From our fearless leader, posthumous:

"This thread belongs to Team Suck, a ragtag group of militia... um... photographers who compatriate more than compete, more interested in winging than winning, in love than lustre.

We don't let a low score get in the way of a dream!

As our seditious philosophy gained ground, our ranks grew, until we became more than just a team. We became a league of teams in wholesome if not entirely serious competition with each other. And that's the way we all became Team Suck.

This thread is for suckers to commiserate and compete. It can also be used for anyone with questions or comments about the Suck lifestyle. If you do wish to join us, we ask that you participate at DPC for a while to see if sucking really is your style, and we ask that you fulfill whatever half-brained initiation we come up with at that moment."

Rule of Thirds applies to *composition*, not subject.

Join us at our new website dedicated to the suck way of life. Visitors are always welcome; stop by for a cuppa coffee, spot of tea, keg of beer, or photoshop confusion.

Nominate OOBIE or YAPPIE!

Team Suck Policy Statement

posthumous quote:

"I don't make these very often. In fact, I might never make these, but this is a pretty fundamental policy that I'm talking about, and it's a necessary one for our survival in DPC. It has to do with voting practices. Obviously, we are not responsible for the voting practices of our members, but to go further I'd like to suggest some guidelines for how Team Suckers vote:

- We do not share photos with each other and then vote on them.
- We do not vote higher on images just because we think they were made by a member of Team Suck.
- We do not encourage each other to vote higher for certain types or styles of images. We pride ourselves on our variety of tastes and styles.
- We do not encourage any particular voting method, though we might frown at people with 3.67 voting averages and make grumbling noises.
- The only way we might influence voting is indirectly, by enriching everyone's tastes and opening their minds to what can be beautiful, and this sort of discussion is never about an identifiable picture in a current challenge."

Yay! A new home! The Monkey House was starting to get a little smelly in the summer heat. :)

Oh, and here is a "welcome mat"

I will make an effort to visit more often, as I love coming to our 'Home Sweet Home'. Please forgive me, for not stopping by, as I have had the 'miserables' these past few months, since returning from our 5 day break in Melbourne, to see out family.

I also have been house bound due to the cold and health issues, but feeling as though I am on the mend at the moment.

Hope everyone is well and happy and send you all out love from the Sunshine Coast, (where it has rained today) in Queensland, Australia.

Remember if ever any of you are over this way, we love to meet you anytime.

love shez

My goodness but we sure are a talkative bunch, aren't we? Anyone care to figure how many posts Team Suck has had since we started changing new threads and such?
07/13/2008 09:09:20 AM · #6
Hey guys, nice to see the new thread.

Sorry I haven't been around much lately - last month I was so busy I had to pull out of a side challenge and now I've moved into a new place with no internet! Fortunately I'm spending a bit of a time back home with my parents - I spent a couple of days shooting in London this week and I now have a couple of challenge entries in again. I'll pop in as often as I can until my internet's back up!

Just posting so I can find this thread again. Sorry to hear about your skunk attack too Christian!

Oh, look! The Welcome Wagon has arrived with a basket full of OOBIEs!

I will post too so I can peek in from time to time.
Grrr - had to spend the night at my sister's house last night...
We spent the day swimming, grilled a tenderloin for dinner, played cards and had some wine. The wine did me in, so no driving - we sacked out on the couch which was really too soft.
...to say nothing of the dog and cat all night inspecting us.
...did I mention they have a ghost - saw it again at 3:46AM same as the other times.
...4 teenagers the next morning - I looked at Townley and said "are ya kidding me?"
...Mark makes good coffee, the paper was a quick read, some small talk penciling in some dates and headed home in the rain.

Today is a good day to look at photos.

Peeking into the new digs. Lovely place as always! With all the skunk attacks, it was getting quite smelly at the old barn. We don't have many skunks around here, but I've been known to find an opossum or 3 in my basement.

During voting a few weeks back, one of our esteemed Team Suck voters, Greetmir, offered up the following thoughts:

I am sorry and I know that my vote will not do either of these three candidates
any good but I must vote for ALL of the entries. It is the first, and I hope the
last time that I have ever done (or hope to do) that. They are all so excellent
in their own right and I cannot omit even ONE of the three, no less omit two
and only vote for ONE. I hope you will pass this comment on when the voting
ends so that these three people know that no matter how hard I tried, I could
not pick one above the others. A truly super OOBIE showing this round!

Hunh, I almost walked right past the new place, and the best news I didn’t have to help move, LOL.

Point of color is at 4.7, but that’s ok, I was expecting a much lower score. Landscape is doing well also and looks to replace the duck on my profile page.

I agree, and would have the same difficulty.

About the ghosts....it followed them back from Killarney Ireland! When the girls competed in Irish Dance. It woke up my sister at the 3:46 mark for many nights. She doesn't pay attention anymore. I do though, every time I stay over. It sweeps down the hall and I see it as it goes into the kitchen.

Wow, new diggs teach me not to leave home again without my puter. Christian, another skunk bath is Dawn dish soap, baking soda, and hydrogen peroxide. It will cut the smell and you don't have the mess of the tomato juice. The only thing is it does dry the skin out so you will have to shampoo them with something to give oil back.

Wow! Love the new place!
I'm visiting my mom and dad in upper Michigan and I can't believe how slow their internet is! I actually took a pic and entered it for tonights challenge. I used a program called "Photo Explosion Deluxe" to edit it. It looked ok on the pc so I submitted it but I can't really see what it looks like on the site! It's so slow they have the setting so pics won't load all the way! (or something like that) I hope it worked!!! I'm going to be here until Thurs. or Fri. so I guess I have to enter Tues. challenge from here too!

Tell me about it - I'm staying at my parents' place and tried to edit my latest challenge entry with a free photoshop equivalent. In the end I found it completely intolerable so used photoshop at a neighbour's house!

I think I just committed the equivalent of photographic suicide with my Anything But Landscape entry. As far as votes go, at least.
