Ugh! Two days of shooting and finally have something I am happy with! Working with food/liquids is darn difficult especially when you factor in lighting!

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has 'cooked' up:-)

I'm hoping to work on mine tomorrow. Finally a food challenge and my stuff is packed in boxes. I'm going to have to get really creative.

From the Challenge Description: (emphasis added) "... Photograph before, during or after and use that as your submission. ..."

Am I reading this correctly that a finished food product isn't the only thing to enter?

"Before" could be the ingredients (i.e. piles of spices, veggies, etc...), "During" could show the cooking process (i.e. pans on the stove with steam, etc...), and of course "After" showing the finished food product.

At least that's how I'm understanding it...

Ohh...hang on a minute...according the current fiasco....maybe the photo should include all 3 steps or it might be a DNMC!!!! LMAO!

Hey now! Let's NOT make that a requirement. Troublemaker you. :-D

I'm in a similar boat as KelvinC...I don't cook, so "Before" and "During" are more appealing choices to me.

edit - had the wrong word in there!

Ok. I guess no one wants to discuss this. :-/ Perhaps because it's before the challenge? I'm sure during the challenge there will be comments "those are ingredients, not food", "food is only food once it's out of the pot", etc... After the challenge the armchair quarterbacks will come out and say I told you so. Wait! This would be the place to put up those I told you so's before I told you so. He-he.

I believe you are correct about the before, during OR after...

I think we will see alot of ingrediant photos and a lot of Afters, maybe not so many durings...

I agree. The "during" could be challenging to get across in a photo that will score well.

I can't do during...I'm a messy cook! :P
Oh, piles of dirty dishes and the cook blurred in the background, lol....

Nope. The operative conjunction is "or" -- meaning any one or more of the listed conditions satisfies the challenge description.

Is this your DPC recipe or a recipe for disaster?

As for your original question - I misread it at first and thought it was AND. I was trying desperately to think of something that could show all 3 in a single shot. Yes, it was Friday afternoon and my brain was fried. :P

I'm hoping the adage 2 out of 3 ain't bad will hold true for my shot. I'm testing the light in my new abode.

does it really matter if the drink is consumable? possibly a stupid question... Or is it ok if it just looks cool?

Well, you're supposed to post the recipe, and a beverage is by definition a consumable liquid, so it probably should not be toxic or caustic.

I'm not sure it has to be palatable though (c.f. Jones' Turkey & Gravy Soda) ...

I think I might have to go with a non-alcoholic drink. I'll end up getting schwacked if I try to shoot a "potent potable"

I guess "Before" wasn't such a good choice. :-)

It certainly wasn't a good choice for me either:

How people can complain that I left my beverage in it's original packaging is beyond me!

Well - Those that commented on it during the challenge certainly liked it. They avg'd a score of over 6.2xxx!

How's that for a positive spin? :-)
