OOO OOO, you made a teeter toter. Placed the bulb in the socket loosely base on ones side of a board on a pivot. Then you banged the board on the opposite side with the hammer like a see saw and shot the lamp and bulb
into the air. Bulb traveled a little further than the lamp because of the spring. heheheh

This is by far the closest...but not quite there yet. HINT - There was a hammer involved!!!!

okay... so the hammer was the assistance. You hit the lamp with the hammer to "nudge" the bulb just enough - and then the spring fired it out of the socket ?
(that would also explain why hubby was afraid that you'd break the lamp - hitting it too hard with the hammer) ?

I guess I'll give my idea, and sorry if it was already said...

Method 1: Everything is just laying down and your taking the shot from a birds eye view.

Method 2: Same idea as roba, with the spring and all. But you hit the hammer onto the table to trigger the release of the spring...

No...and No..the hammer did NOT connect with the lamp and the lamp was sitting on the cement ground...the lamp did not move from its spot.

Shez....there was nothing touching the bulb at the time of the capture!!!!

How about this:

There is an electronic flick thingy in the base of the lamp casing, the bulb rests on top of the lamp. You trigger the electronic flicker by a remote and it hits the lamp launching it up.

Magic touch?

Hahahaha....good try...although not right...remember there is a HAMMER involved! And the hammer didn't touch the lamp!

Ooooo, did you smash the hammer down right beside the lamp, causing the bulb to jump out of its socket?
07/07/2008 03:13:40 AM · #59
That was my guess. Put the bulb in the socket, then twist it back so it's n-e-a-r-l-y ready to come out again, then shake the ground with said hammer...
07/07/2008 03:20:24 AM · #60
Also, presumedly, a pillow behind the lamp, so the bulb didn't smash :)

LMAO!!! Wow you guys are creative...but the answer is........drumroll please...........NO!!

The hammer did not hit the ground....and there was no pillow in sight...and the lamp was upright and did not leave the ground!

Okay...

Another idea:

The bulb is resting on a piece of wood or something that is resting on the lamp casing.

You throw a hammer at the piece of wood to knock it off releasing it's grip of the bulb.

So basically,

Lamp casing with a piece of wood on top of it, and then the bulb is fit onto the wood. Hammer is thrown to hit the piece of wood as you take the shot of the lamp about to fall to the floor.

Ahhh! but you said nothing is touching the bulb! >:[

The bulb was in the lamp as it would normally be to work, prior to the capture....there was no wood around! LOL!

wow - thought someone would've nailed it by now. I feel like we're stuck in that game - "The Incredible Machine".
You used the hammer to set off one of those construction nailguns (used to secure 2x4 framing into the ground) next to the lamp ?

i got it! You hit hubby in the head with the hammer, causing him to fall down next to the lamp, which in turn set off the spring ? ;O)

Did you swing the hammer intending to capture the bulb breaking but instead the hammer knocked the bulb loose, bounced out of the shot, and the bulb popped out landing on the concrete?

And we have a WINNER!!!!!!!!!!

Well done togtog...I will PM you with your membership!

BTW...the bulb did not break when it hit the concrete....damn thing!!!

I will say now...that JulietNN was soo close in another thread when she spoke about her lightglobe not breaking when she hit it with a hammer!

WOOT! I don't believe it, and so simple too. You should save that light bulb, if earth is ever invaded by space hammers you can use it to save the world! ;)

Heh! That's a pretty darn clever trick, Judi! Sometimes the best shots are the unintentional ones. Very cool!
