I am so mad I could puke...

I was organizing files today on my computer, and after it was all said and done I went to look for some photos I took yesterday and the folder is gone.. along with the few hundred pictures in it...

I deleted my recycle bin earlier, and I dont know if I deleted it before or after moving my files around... (d'oh)

I downloaded a program called recover my files but havent used it yet for FEAR of not finding my files..

any thoughts on how to recover them if I deleted them? Or where else to look in the computer. I have gone through every folder on my computer 1 by 1 looking...

The quicker you try to recover them the better. I have used this with good results

//www.softwarepatch.com/software/filerecovery.html

The sofware you downloaded looks like it might be a free trial.

Do a search for the file number that you know that was in the group. My wife and I have thought we lost pics but they wound up just being dropped into another folder. Searched for the pic number and found them embedded as a subfolder.

Assuming you have a windows PC, you can open your My Docs folder, or the master folder where things used to be, select Tools, then Folder Options, then View (tab) and in the Advanced Settings window, mark the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" Selection. Then you can search for the "halftone" sorts of icons and such: deleted files are most often not erased, but simply "renamed" with an underscore ( _image) to let the system know these can be overwritten (so, as said earlier, sooner is better). Using a recovery program is probably the easiest way, since they go searching everywhere for such files--you might be surprised how much "deleted" stuff is still around.

As long as you don't Secure Delete or Defrag your drive, a lot of stuff should still be there. But the more you use your machine before recovering, the more of those can be overwritten by other stuff.

okay this file recovery has been running for 14 hours now and still no sign of those photos. and the weird thing is it is only that 1 folder with those photos missing.

what else could I have done?!?! I sound so stupid I know, I have never accidentally lost a file before. I am normally quite good on the computer and I cant figure this one out..

Been there.... I feel your pain.... I lost all my photos from my last trip to Maui.... I hope you have better luck recovering them than I did!

If these are photos you took just yesterday, I can make a couple of suggestions. I may be stating the obvious, but bear with me. :-)
First, to make sure you thoroughly explored kawesttex's idea, don't search for a folder, search for individual file (photo) numbers. You should be able to guess the missing files' number range based on how your camera is automatically numbering today.
Second, don't shoot any more photos on your current memory card. You can run photo recovery software on the card itself (not only on your PC).

I have this and it's amazing...

I second the idea about trying to recover whatever is in your card. One time I just looked thru the images in my camera without moving them to my computer and erased the card without thinking. I hope that is not what happened in this case.
There are a few other threads about the same problem, and there may be something that will work for you in one of them.

I had what I thought was a clean card...showed nothing in Windows Explorer, but Rescue Pro showed almost 700 shots on the card. I usually delete, but don't reformat my card, so this might be a good route to go.

Try this...
//www.pctools.com/file-recover/?ref=google_fr&gclid=CPLwzcmboJQCFRdinAodlUx8fQ
This will at least tell you if they are still on your pc...then we can work to recover.
Working on the other. Check your email...
