Bumping this for those that may not have seen it - read original thread mentioned for more details. (And yes, I need to go out and shoot!)

One of my pastimes is to go running (actually part hobby, part necessity). This lake is where I most often run because it is located about halfway between work and home, and during the week I run after I get off from work. It is located in the middle of the suburbs, even though it looks rural.

These two flowers are located ~50-100 feet to the left of where the first photo was taken.

The lake is man-made with a dam, a spillway and a bridge over the spillway. The first photo was taken from the bridge.

This is a closer view of the spillway.

This is the brook below the dam.

Finally, this is one of the ducks swimming in the brook.

Hmmm... Erik's shots are so nice, I'm not sure I want to post my experiment! But it's all part of the learning process, right? So please excuse the far less interesting subject matter. My goal in this side challenge is to try to make myself see things in different ways, to move past the first shot I see and find other angles or perspectives.

So I shot my laundry basket. :-)

This is the first shot I took. In my room in the late afternoons, the light comes through small slats in the metal shades that cover the windows (which this time of year are closed to keep the heat out.) I really like the way the light hits things, so I decided to try this month's exercise with my laundry basket. Granted, it's not an exciting subject, but it's an exercise, right?

Anyway, SERIOUSLY underexposed. I was sitting in my doorway shooting back toward the wall with the windows. Focal length - 50mm.

The second framing incorporates the windows and the footboard of my bed. Shot from the same position as the first, but a wider view. Focal length - 28mm.

For this and the fourth shot, I moved to the right of where I was for the first two shots, and shot across the light, so to speak. The difference between the third and fourth shots is primarily the orientation and focal length.

So what did my experiment show me other than a laundry basket makes for a somewhat boring subject? Not sure. Comments are not required on the photographs (did I mention they were boring?) but I would like to hear which shot you prefer and why.

Ok, here's my first set.

It is just some shots of my garden taken at about 8pm, the light is not as good as I'd hoped but there you go!

The shots are not as interesting as I'd hoped, I think there is just too much green and needs more colour!

I was looking for something interesting to shoot and thought I would try the Point Vicente Lighthouse in Palos Verdes...after looking at my shots though, I actually liked the sunset shots better than the lighthouse shots. Shots were taken last night between 7PM and 8:30PM on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Definitely worth another trip for another attempt at lighthouse shots.
Here's the lighthouse

And here are the sunset shots...

Here's mine for week one. I'm not crazy about them so I may do something else. I did find my results very interesting! I used an inexpensive point and shoot for the first pic, my fave p&s for the second and my dSLR for the third.
