I had a Fuji A360 for a while, and liked it a lot. I then bought an A820 (8meg) with the larger LCD for my wife. I liked it so well that I bought a second one for myself. they are under $100 on eBa in the "Buy it now" auctions. I paid $62 total for the one that I carry everywhere now.
The Fuji shoots with higher contrast and higher saturation than the Canon, which is what you are seeing. Look in the settings on the Canon to see if you can set some user specified shooting modes. Look for "color" and "saturation" then set those to high. If that option is not available, try shooting using "cloudy day" white balance, and set exposure value (EV) at -.5 to simulate the "Fuji" color profile.
I also bought a Vivitar T25, 12meg recently. I don't like the way the menus work, and the Fuji makes better photos. The Vivitar shoots killer video though, much better quality than the Fuji, but I think that it is just a higher resolution and 25 FPS format. The Vivitar is a current model, and the Fuji A820 is one or two generations behind the current lineup.
