Anyone else experiencing freeze up of DPC website or is it just my computer? I can open the website..no problem, then after a few clicks it takes forever to load a page. I will close IE and then start over again. PLease tell me it is the website and not my computer:(

Leo, do you have Piclens installed? Many people found that as soon as DPC became piclens enabled, our browsers kept freezing.
I, as well as many others, uninstalled piclens and all is good again.

I am having the same problem. It also started right around the time I installed PicLens (not sure if it was before or after and never made the connection). Thanks for the PicLens info!

I agree, it is a shame - especially since I didn't use to have problems with piclens until DPC became enabled.
I'm crossing fingers that it is a problem from the DPC side and WILL get fixed in time, so that we can re-install piclens again.

Glad it sorted out your (and Chuck's) problem for now, though.

I have been going to Tools->Add-ons->Disable if I am going to be on DPC, then you have to restart your browser. If I do this DPC works great. I turn it back on if I go to flickr or search google images for things. Its not the best, but it works.

DPC was freezing on me too. I finally went to Firefox and did away with IE. But also uninstalled piclens. No problem now!

Well, I finally started having the problem. I've used FireFox all along. Never had any freezing problems until today. Went into the options and disabled PicLens, didn't even uninstall it, then restarted FireFox. Now no problems. Very strange. Never had FireFox or PicLens cause any problems on any other site.
Doesn't mean it's site related I guess....
Oh, and I had not used PicLens since the machine was booted this AM. Weird. I wonder if it is site traffic load related? Maybe some resource is used when a PicLens enabled browser contacts the server...
If that's the case either up the resources, or nuke Piclens off the site. I'd hate to do the latter because I'm looking a many more images on the site than I used to at challenge end. I comment and favorite some of them too. PicLens just makes it so much more convenient. Maybe if I get over my case of lazies today I'll enable the packet sniffer and see what the diff is.

DPC was freezing up for me all day yesterday. I don't have PicLens. Today it seems to be working fine. Oh and I use Firefox.

Edit **Yahoo is back up***

Whenever DPC freezes on me, I drop it into a tall glass and pour in a couple shots of really expensive Scotch and chug it down. That always makes me feel better.

Even with piclens disabled, the occasional hangups still happen. The last couple hours I've been trying to finish voting & commenting on the 2 person portrait challenge and though I can get to the thumbnail page, when I click on a shot, the image isn't loading, the progress bar in the status bar is almost done, and see "transferring data from google-analytics.com sitting in the status bar. I don't vote on a challenge unless I can vote 100%, and want to know if my votes, not the comments can be stricken, seeing as I can't be fair in my votes. The java popup prevents me from voting/commenting, saying please wait until the image loads. Restarting, flushing the cache, same results, Firefox v. 2.0.0.14 on a Windows Vista platform.
This is what it looks like:
[thumb]691630[/thumb]
Funny thing is, when I uploaded that to my workshop folder, the thumbnail was hung out to dry with the same waiting for google-analytics.com and progress bar nearly done, in the status bar, same again trying the preview button on this reply edit.

Stats:
You have rated 55 of 121 images (45%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 55 images (45%) in this challenge.

can the comment stay and votes be stricken?
Never mind.
Everything still hanging up - went and scrubbed my own votes by marking all of em 10

Try using the Adblock add-on to block google-analytics.com Brad. Maybe that'll work??
