Yay -- more MMers! I'm keeping the "big list" (see middle of page 2 of this thread) up to date for easy reference.

Don't look at my profile if you're in the color in B/W challenge. It'll give my entry away :P

Zach, Steve, I denied you cos I wasn't looking at the screen at the time (don't ask!)

Anyways, I sent you two friends requests

I currently have 1 vote for photo of the day. So I am really doing well.

Well I deleted all my friends and am deleting my account. Seems models never want to pay for this stuff. I have found a local model that if I need practice she will come by but it just seems to me most on there are just wanting free pictures and I am not wasting my time anymore.

You sound upset that the models weren't paying you ... did you consider paying your models? (just wondering how the shoe feels on the other foot)

In general, I think MM'ers are all about TFP/CD. Except in the cases where the photographer has a specific "need" for a model, in which case I think he should be paying the model. I suspect most models don't "need" any specific photographer ... unless you're *really* that good.

In other words, I wouldn't go to MM expecting to make money as a photographer. On the other hand, the models you use might help you gain experience and make more money from your regular clientele.

not upset. Just figured there is no use to do free work anymore because I am getting plenty of portrait work from people that are buying prints.

Seriously though, I need an extra vote. Just one more so I don't feel like a total loser.

I'll agree with DW here. I don't think that there is much paying work going on there to be honest, I think that most of it is TF work. I think that if you are a new photographer or someone that wants experience that it is a great place to be. Take me for instance, this Sunday, I get to work with 10 models for 7 hours, with 4 make up artists in a Kinetic Museum for $110. That makes it $20 dollars an hour. You can not beat that with a barge pole, that is an amazing deal.

So if you want to expand, explore new ideas, try different things, then it is the place to be.

For paid work, I think you will find some once in a while if you are an absolutely amazing photographer.

You seem to be confusing model work with portrait work. It's funny, because I'm into headshot photography, so when I started moving towards modeling, I found myself asking "what's the difference?" And the answer is: who pays who.

That and a very different style that I'm still trying to figure out. ;)

I still only have one vote. And that was myself.

What were you doing that you couldn't look at the screen?
