A terrific source for meeting people near and far - have fun!

I joined in 2006...never did anything with it until late last year. Had about 6 model shoots from there. Most models just looking to expand portfolio..so I get practice and they get some free pics on cd. Good exchange...and I don't end up spending a ton of money to work with models that usually request pay for their time.

I've been using OneModelPlace, but I'm wondering if I should also try MM. Those of you who have experience with both, which do you find better for getting good TFCD models, MM or OMP?

I'm kinda curious about this site. I see that a requirement is to have 4 shots. So um...is there any sort of baseline on quality? Do you require a model release or any sort? Just wondering how to get started.

My first 4 photos are still up, if you're looking for the kind of quality that got me in. One is a self portrait, and the other three are candids. I don't have model releases for any of mine.

Requirements -

Yes, there's a baseline of quality, but as long as the shots aren't craptacular then chances are they'll go through. As far as model releases go, treat it as any other site where you're posting shots online (it's your responsibility to remain complaint with whatever is applicable to your situation).

One Model Place is probably a more professional looking site but I found it much easier to find contacts on Model Mayhem. The only gripe I have with it is the lack of ease to browse other peoples portfolios, though with their new 'lists' it is getting better.

I think by joining DPC I will learn how to spot a good photographer and it will help me with choosing better photographers for modeling.

And Juliettnn I like your work, so unique. Must be the woman's touch!

I was almost halfway done with the same thing. The sad part isn't that you beat me, but rather that I was doing the same thing. :)

Nice job.

Heh heh. What's even more sad is how much time I spent perfecting my macro to handle the condition of multiple accounts, when of course there was only one person with multiple accounts (and that one person just has two). But it's the thought that (ac)counts, right? Har har har. :P

Thanks much -- I hope people find it helpful.

I was just thinking, for stuff like this.... dpc needs a WIKI! :D

I'll post mine up when I'm at home sometime...can't access it from work.

My real gripe is that MM models can be extremely unreliable. This is something I've found out from personal experience as well as the experience of other photographers in the area. I've put together three or four large shoots where I've had at least one, if not all off the models that say they were going to show up bail on us.

The last one I put together was at the Baltimore Orioles minor league stadium in Frederick MD. It's like 20-30 minutes from DC and 10 of the 12 models that said they were coming didn't. I know at least 6 or 7 of those were from MM. So disappointing. I'd really like to do some more glamour shots and stuff, but not if I'm going to be stood up all the time.

Been there a couple of years now. No problems so far with models.
