I'm usually pretty good about doing my own research before asking for help but this one is stumping me.

My Dad likes to occasionally print out pictures at home so he needs a decent photo printer. The problem is he uses it so little that the ink always dries up and clogs the printer. Not to mention the huge waste in ink.

What can he get that won't clog over time? Inkjet has always been a problem. Dye Sub still uses inks right? Laser just isn't good enough for photos. What else is there? His budget is probably under $200 or so.

Thanks!

If he's not printing larger pictures than 4" x 6", the Canon Selphy CP760 uses wax/dry inc. My mother has an older model, and it prints great pictures. SRP is $99, and for $15 you get 36 prints.

And no, I don't work for Canon :)

Canon IP4300 I have and use this printer. Its amazing and so inexpensive its unreal. I just finished pulling a photo out of a sunny spot that was there for 2 years printed on Epson paper and then reprinted it and compared the two. No fading or color problems with it at all. My mom also has one as do several others here at DPC. I sell many prints from 8x10 down to 2x3 and have had no concerns or complaints. I'd certainly recommend it.
