portugal proved many times that big names mean absolutely nothing in football, but you already know that ... and everyone else too :-)

INDEED!!! GO GREECE!!!

Magno ... I'm sure you all sighed a breath of relief when our groups didn't meet
: P

Well, greece might possibly be our boogey team! But if we meet and both teams play to their utmost potential, I think talent wise and strength in depth, we'd be the clear winners! But, that wasn't the case in 2004, and fair play to you! on the day greece were deserved winners. In recent times, greece have been doing what is known as 'punching above their weight'...a dangerous game, particularly when that 'knock out blow' comes-a-knocking from a heavyweight!!! ;-)

Portugal, of course.
Seeing from our past record of reaching semi-finals..., we might just cut it this time. Let's just hope we have a *team* and not (as many say) a constellation of stars.
I would love to see a Portugal-Spain final. It would be a game to remember... by the way, I would also love to see the main portuguese teams competing in the Spanish liga... :-)

As a Bronco fan I wish Brett would've retired a season sooner ***grumbles about Monday night long bomb***. Hey, don't get down yet. I for one was very impressed with Aaron Rogers last year, he had a sweet game against the Cowboys when Farve went down. On a personal not I look forward to my Broncos once again smashing the Packers in the Super Bowl.. :)

We now return you to your thread.....

Is soccer the game with the little wooden balls that you knock through metal hoops with a mallet? I've never played it myself, but I thought it was cute when I saw some kids playing it in an old movie. I can't imagine it being much fun for adults though.

It's too bad North America sucks at real football... Maybe someday the U.S. or Canada will be good enough to play with the rest of the world.

Check out this video, fun soccer stunts. Many other amazing videos on YouTube.

Never put money on the porkancheese, I almost came to the point of renouncing my nationality when they lost to greece in the final of euro 2004 IN PORTUGAL!!! To this day, that is the biggest disgust of my life - bloody muppets!!!

They looked good value from the start of Euro 2004 and to be honest I was counting my money when they got in the final....

The latest odds look quite interesting...

Germany 4/1
Spain 11/2
Italy 7/1
Portugal 15/2 (tempting)
France 9/1
Holland 14/1 (very tempting for an EW)
Croatia 14/1
Czech rep 25/1
Russia 28/1
Greece 33/1
Switz 33/1
Sweden 40/1
Romania 50/1
Turkey 50/1
England 1,000,000/1 to turn up

Poland are also 50/1 a decent price for us and my EW outsider.

Oh, I see what's going on now. You people have confused football with soccer!

It's easy to spot the difference; football is a contact sport played by big tough men. There's lots of hitting and smashing, and serious injuries are common. Soccer is a no-contact game played by little girls and sissy boys. There's lots of running around in circles, giggling, and the most serious injury is hurt feelings when a player falls down and gets her knee socks dirty.

I think the reason that some countries play soccer instead of football (besides the lack of real men and an abundance of little girls and sissies) is because the shape of the football confuses them so much.

Thats right, thats why in europe we play your kind of football, without protection...its called rugby!!! Oh, by the way in spain and portugal we also fight bulls! Who are the little girls and sissy boys now?! My grandfather was a forcado (men with balls of steel!!!) in portugal (a type of bullfighter), he died in the arena, having been gorged in the stomach by a 555kg bull - now thats a real athlete, with f*****g balls...big un's!!! No sissy's in portugal!!!

This is a very common opinion in the States. But what would you expect? It's the only game that they are any good at. Even in basketball, Spain or Greece could easily beat the crap out of them. Just ignore them!

* (remembers that the USA won us 3-2 in the 2002 World Cup... scurries away to a corner) *

The netherlands won that didn't they! Wasn't that held in west germany?! That's right, holland beat the soviet union with gullit and van basten scoring. I supported germany in that tournament...used to be a big fan of lothar matthaeus!!!

I reckon its as open as its ever been...holland as good a choice as any!!!
