i was thinking more along the lines of getting the van, then putting the overflow into cars...but like you said its cheaper/easier without having to rent the van, so I'll leave that up to you. We absolutely want you as the tour guide tho, Johnny. You know southern alberta better than anyone i know, so we'd be fools not to follow you.

and Kiwi...I thought I'd just carry you the whole way so you didn't have to walk.

I think we are going to use our own vehicles and simply split the fuel costs. Just had a call from the rental place and they are putting the squeeze for me to book due to Stampede week. As it stands,e do not have enough confirmed to shoulder the commitment at this time. The revised plan will be to share the cost(s)of fuel and / or coffee and use volunteered vehicles. I will volunteer my SUV which will carry 5 people including myself. The expense of $750 should cover things nicely considering the high gas prices. ;-)

Like I mentioned before, Im willing to use my vehicle as well, I can get 4 people plus myself and a LOT of gear in the trunk as well :D and it gets 30mpg so its not to bad on fuel ;)

Sigh... wish I could be there for longer... but guess I should just be happy that it looks like I'll still be able to be there at all :)

Pedro was correct in assuming I'd be in with both feet :)

Thanks for taking the lead on this extra planning Johnny.. I concur with P... no better guide for showing off the natural beauty Alberta has to offer.. seems I'm finally going to get my day out shooting with you after all :) :) :)

I was able to change my flight schedule and got a confirmation email this morning.
So I'm offically in, to see the mountains. Should I bring beef jerky to feed the bears or sasquatch.

Bears like poodles and sasquatch like trail mix. Regarding the mountains, bring some good footwear and as an afterthought, bring some footwear that can be used to trudge across a river. There is a waterfall I'm thinkin of accessing which will give us some purdy pictures (but that is still a variable). The river we cross is freakin cold but who needs all 10 toes anyhow. ;-) See you then!!

haha it has nothing to do with you so don't worry!

my airfare would have been paid for. but I dont have $300 to throw down(workshop+room) and then plus cost of booze(who needs food when you have alcohol?)

in august though I will be going to Edmonton for a week or so, and I know there will be no workshop or anything, but we could do a little gtg with everyone in the area if anyone is interested

I was thinking of the legendary sasquatch, the one with big footprints (aka Bigfoot). And probably the one who collects certain feet in the area.

Did I tell you, that persistance pays off. I talked to an Orbitz.com person yesaterday afternoon. One with a hard foreign accent. She wanted to chrge me an additional $637.91-US in addition to the round trip ticket I already purchased.

Later, last night, maybe some spots were freed up, but I was able to increase my Departure/Arrival dates by 1-day each, for the same price AND exact same itinerary as the original!! (apart from a small change fee)

[ADDED:]I would never pay $637 more, that's crazy. A different person gave me an excellent deal.

You mean those are CALGARY feet floating around out here??
Okay, it's definitely time to build that border fence...

John, that's great :) If you're paying that much, might as well get as much as you can out of it!

Hmm, can anyone help me with this:
I can pack 2 cases with both a weight of 23kgs.

One with clothes, other with beer and food? or ...what shall I do, what is wise!
