I'm new to this site and am glad to have found it. i am wondering how to adhere a photo onto canvas. i don't think i want to print directly on canvas. i want to be able to glue (or something) the print onto canvas. what works? thanks

Anything you glue to canvas will cover the surface texture, rendering the canvas pointless. Better to print directly onto specialized inkjet canvas or order canvas prints from an online photo printer.

Hi Pearl,

You have both the option open to you, however in my opinion you should directly print a photo on canvas.Because of advances in digital technology, it is now easier than ever to transfer a photograph onto canvas. Printing on canvas is technically called Canvas Prints, Canvas Art or Giclee Prints.

While checking on Google for help to print my photos on canvas I came across a good site such as magnipic.com that has years of experience in this industry and they have very reasonable price offers for their clients on photos to canvas as well. No harm to check them out, you just have to upload your photograph there and you will receive detailed information about picture format, quality and its price too!

HOW TO CHOOSE A QUALITY PIECE OF CANVAS ART
I’m a photographer and I’ve tried a lot of canvas companies and Let’s face it we’ve all been there look at web sites that sell canvas art and bought the cheapest one going and when it get to your door you open it up and find its not worth the money you paid for it . The canvas is cheap thin material the image has little or no detail and the frame is made out of batten which you can pick up from any builders merchants ,and when you hang it on the wall its warp or it warps after about 3 weeks L
There are 3 things you need to check out before you come to a decision which canvas printing company you will get your art work from .This is my quick guide hope it helps

(1) What sort of picture you would like on the canvas (i.e.) do you want a run of the mill stock image ,we’ve all seen them, new York cityscapes ,London eye or pop, art which are on most canvas art sites , or would you like a unique image or may be a picture you have taken…

(2) What quality will the print be .The only way you’re really going to know this is to look at all the different web sites. I’ve looked at lots and lots. What they don’t say is what materials they use and what ppi they print at, this plays a big part in the quality of the print.

(3) As for the ppi the greater the number the better 300ppi is ideal for a great looking print this will give loads of image detail on the canvas even when viewed up close ..you get what you pay for))
My favorite canvas printing company by far is Image to canvas, who are a U.K based canvas printing company who are not only affordable they and handcraft all there canvases in house. Overall they are a pleasant genuine business.
