It's higher ISO and selective focus, but my photo teacher really likes it and really wants big prints from her favorite students (that I'm one of, lol). So if it would, I think I'll take advantage of that Adorama $5 16x20 sale.

Thanks for any input, guys.

It really depends on "good" eh? Currently it is at 214 DPI which would be acceptable, but on the mid-low end. You already see the noise (which could be good or bad depending on taste). I see pixellation already in the light reflected in the glasses.

Overall I think it's going to look like you see it and possibly somewhat worse. So if you think it's acceptable as is, then go for it.

Was that taken on the D300, looks really noisy..?

What is the expected / typical viewing distance going to be? Take a look @ your own images - the smaller they are, the better they look (ie, less noise).

If the teacher plans to mount them 12 feet in the air, and people view it from 25 feet away, they will never even SEE any noise.

However, the closer you get...

It's just 5 bucks, why not?

Reducing the image to duotone and making it look a little retro will work quite well. Then add a "film strip" of the coloured image (repeated say 5 timesn at about 1100 pixels high) down the bottom of the poster for contrast. That technique works well with 16 x 20s. I use it often.

The DPI reading is from Flickr upload. The default file should still read at 300, if that makes any difference.

Also, pineapple, could you explain a bit more what you mean or post a tutorial or something?

EDIT: The pixelation on the reflection is just the way the lamp was shaped. But those highlights are certainly blown, lol.

I would imagine that most people viewing a 16x20 would be doing so from an appreciable distance in order to take in the entire image. At that point, you could easily get away with 200 dpi. If someone wants to get up close and look for digital artifacts, than more power to them. The rest will enjoy it from a proper viewing distance.

Currently you photograph ratio is 1.50:1. At that ratio the closest your going to get to a 16x20" is 16x24". If you choose to crop your photo to a ratio of 1.25:1 then you can have it printed at 16x20" but your DPI will drop to 178 dpi.

I've printed 30 inch enlargements at 80dpi and they look great. Unless of course you get close to them...

Link to $5 16x20

You gotta click on the Endura Lustre paper, that's the only way to get them. Just check out the pricing, and order your 16x20 on the right paper, then you're set :)

You're welcome, and thanks to everyone else's help with this as well. I think I'll get it printed and then judge it when I see it. I can let anyone who wants to know what the quality is like, too. And, after all, it's only $5 ;)
