I'm looking for new a zoom lens for my Canon 400D. I found the Canon EF 100-400mm ($1,440.00) is the best lens. But now I have other thought. The "Olympus SP-570UZ ($461.73)" //www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Olympus/oly_sp570uz.asp
It's 10 Megapixels, 26-520 mm lens, and it's an other whole camera!!
I'm so confused now, what's the different between them ?

A ton!!!

The prosumer models have smaller glass for one thing. I think the SP550, 560, 570 have about 1.5" across lens. They are also a lot more noisy at higher ISO. Don't get me wrong, they can take some great photos, the Panasonics especially, but since you already have a DSLR, you would find yourself frustrasted, I think, by the limitations of a prosumer.

Your Canon is a SLR, the Olympus is SLR-like (their words), another words fixed lens- point and shoot.

The 100-400 is the favourite lens I have. It is SUH-weet! I think you're talking about the same one, with I.S.? If I.S. is an option, you'll definitely want it.

The SP-570UZ, as others have said is a small sensor camera, similar to my Powershot S5. (I prefer to call this class of cameras an "Advanced Compact", though I have also heard them called a "Bridge cameras" or "Superzooms")

Since both it and my Rebel XT are 8mp, it has made a good apples to apples comparison between the two types of camera. The advanced compacts are good, and are even superior for some things (Like getting a deeper depth of field in a macro) In good light, the image quality can be close, but in demanding conditions, you will find it lacks compared to the SLR. That being said, I have taken some wonderful shots with my Powershot S5, and about half my entries here still seem to be taken with it. My highest scoring shot is still an S5 image.

It would make a great second camera, for the right purpose, but if you are looking at it instead of a $1400 lens, it will not compare.

For purposes of comparison, here's your sensor size for the 400D, as compared to a full-frame, 35mm negative size:

And here's the sensor size of the Olympus you are looking at:

In other words, if you want to turn your 400mm into a 520mm to match the Oly, just crop :-) But that's the real difference between the cameras; sensor size.

And don't forget, the 100-400mm is really 160-640mm on the 400d as I assume the Olympus is talking in 35mm terms
