I was very upset until I read some other scores. Maybe if I go to bed then look again after the children are off to school it will look better. If it looks like this later I don't think I'll be hitting that update button very much.

Sepia tone refers to the coloring of a black and white photographic print that has been toned with a sepia toner to simulate the faded brownish color of some early photographs.

lol..I know what a Sepia Toned picture is...lol...I was asking if the VOTERS know...I do alot of sepia...in fact it is my favorite type....lol...I was commenting 'cause everyones score in this thread are so low...it's amazing.

but not only do some of the voters not know what sepia is but also many of the entrants, as so far i've seen a lot of yellowish/orange/purple pictures i just would'nt consider sepia...

oh well but good to see my score is not the only one that seems to bomb big-time :D

Well, for the first time since starting at DPC I am actually thinking of having mine removed because this photo means a lot to me and I don't think I can handle the beating of 4.4 on this one. I took it on my last entry but it didn't mean as much as this one. What to do What to do?

I know how you feel exactly.. I think the best thing to do is to either avoid entering photos that have personal connection or live with the score if it bombs out. I've had a few shots that are deep and meaningful to me go out at around 4.1, the simple fact is this, The shot is a lot to you but to everyone else it is not.

Don't self DQ, stand tall and proud and next week enter a purple sky sunset with bubbles.

I know you are right. I just can't help enter one I really have a personal connection to. I won't self DQ myself. I have come close but I will stick it out. My version of sepia may be just a bit to orange for most people's taste. I still love the photo and plan on framing it. Thank you MAK

Watching this go down with each vote is a bit like watching a slo mo car crash! I think that in some sort of perverse way I would actualy be diappointed if it went up... I actually really like the photo, and have got it as my desktop background this week, so I am happy.

It still about a point less than what I figured. Are my predictive skills failing?

What's your score?

Wow I am shocked by all the low scores here. I guess I should be very pleased with my score.

where I thought I'd be in this huge challenge....
04/30/2008 08:22:02 AM · #99
I think the challenge should be renamed to "Take a photo, add some noise, reduce the contrast a little, sepia tone it, and get a 4". Just kidding, although there is enough truth in the statement to make me cry on my lens. Maybe I should have submitted a color photo of a flower or sunset! On the other hand maybe I submitted a bad sepia photo that deserves a 4. :)
