I have to admit, I did not like the lead -I didn't really believe him. But, our Good friend, Rob Trevelier, was in the Mist. He played the store manager, and I thought he was really good. (maybe I'm just biased?) haha.

I enjoyed the movie though. It made me jump a few times. Religious lady was driving me crazy though!

Slippy, your story reminds me of when I read King's The Stand (I mean the original, bloated The Stand, not the newer, unimproved, bloatier The Stand. Anyway, I was alone in my quiet apartment with a bad flu and I didn't go outside or see anyone for a day or two. When the phone rang at night my first reaction was "Someone is alive!" 8-)

Haha! :-D

"The Mist" is the first and only audio book that I have listen to, probably because it hyped the 3d sound. I might still have the cassette tape from years ago.

oh, cool, would love to see it in expert or advanced. Lots of clowns and cute little firestarters, but all the possibilities...

Loved this film, scared the **** out of me, I hate bugs!
I'm a huge Stephen King fan, and it's great to see film adaptations that keep the spirit of his work. It's not just about scary monsters, it's about the people and their relationships... that's what many directors miss.

I am seriously the odd ball out. It was an ok movie but it was not as fantastic for me as it was for others. Also for me the ending was seriously predictable and cliche. Guess I am more used to the classic King of Pet Cemetery, Carrie, Christine, Cugo to name a couple. I have to agree the Green Mile is long as sin, but I rather enjoy the movie and Shawshank is one of my all time favs. 'Funny thing is, I was straight as an arrow on the outside and I had to come to prison to be a crook.'

Yup. I kept wondering the whole time I was looking at the movie whether I'd
seen this before. Did they make a movie of this 15 years ago???? nope.
Sap sucker matched my layout and everything to the T. Unbelievable.

Call me odd but I found The Mist to be long, drawn out, bland and boring. The only movie I have seen in recent history that I disliked more than this one was "The Village" which gives new definition to "Horrendous"

You are odd! Well, you asked us to call you that. :-) Actually, I don't think you are terribly off base. Sometimes movies grab us (and we overlook their "sins"), sometimes they don't. Btw, if you think "The Village" was the most horrendous recent movie, you must not have seen "Lady in the Water" -- what a stinker that was.

I liked 'Lady in the Water' Better than the village but would not waste the time to watch either of them again. I would sooner watch Bill and Ted, or something.

I actually quite liked "The Village" as well, not one of his (M. Night Shyamalan) finest moments, but not THAT bad.. I have avoided "Lady in the Water" like the plague, not only from the awful reviews, but also from what friends have said.
But come to think of it, I loved "Signs" as well.

To experience a world of irredeemable schmaltz, try Battlefield Earth.

Yup, "Signs" was cool. People mock some aspects, but it's still an interesting movie. I also liked Mr. Shyamalan's "Unbreakable."

Louis, I tried watching "Battlefield Earth" once, but only lasted about 15 minutes.

As long as this thread is all over the place (within a certain genre), did you know they are remaking Hitchcock's "The Birds?"

05/01/2008 11:59:35 AM · #41
Are they? I wonder why they have to remake classics. It's a bit more esoteric, but Haneke is also remaking an English language shot-for-shot version of his "Funny Games". What's the world coming to? :-(
