Grounds for Sculpture May 4
Hi all, a few of us have decided to venture out to the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton NJ (Mercer County) for some photography fun on Sunday, May 4. We'd like to open it to anyone who'd like to join us.
Leave a note here and we'll finalize the arrangements a few days before. One caveat, if there is torrential rain ... GTG will be arranged on a different date.

Kelli probably not going to make it
pgirish007 doubtful due to NEW parenthood. Congrats!
BrianM didn't make it after all.

Pretty good now we have a small grouping and things are looking up. I'll do some more research on the surrounding area. Funny when you live in the area and still feel the need to do more research.

ah, don't worry I am also in the same boat, I myself don't know much about this area!

I was just there on Sunday for the children's festival. Many opportunities for some nice photography. Besides the myriad of sculptures, there is nice water features, interesting buildings, and spectacular landscaping. If you like trees, you can pick up the self guided tree tour pamphlet that helps you locate 78 different species.

Oh, and did I mention the peacocks?

Unfortunately (or fortunately) I have tickets to the Frida Kahlo exhibit on Sunday so I won't be able to join you guys. But I am sure you will have a great time. It is a spectacular place.

Exciting news one of our possible GTG folks became a father today!! Pgirish007 may or may not be able to join us ... because he is a new dad to a little baby girl. Congrats all the way around.

Big Congrats!

Well, it looks like I need to back out too. Sorry gals/guys! Hubby has a job that has to be finished this weekend, so he'll be working both Saturday and Sunday this weekend (probably 10 hours each day). This leaves me both carless and with my son (whom I wouldn't want to bring). Hopefully I can make the next one.

Should we check the weather report Saturday night to see if we continue or reschedule?

I'll be darned...Hamilton, NJ registered as 60% chance of rain on Sunday just about 5 hours ago, but now it's been updated as "mostly cloudy"

linky

we might be in luck!

The Café at Grounds For Sculpture, is located in the Domestic Arts Building. It offers a casual luncheon menu for dining indoors or outside in the courtyard. The Café is open 10am to 4pm, Tuesday through Sunday throughout the year.
I don't know if this following one is open or not: The Gazebo is open during the warmer months of the year. Overlooking the water lily pond and surrounded by willow trees, it offers a beautiful, tranquil setting to enjoy a beverage or light snack. Hours are 12pm to 6pm, weather permitting.
Within a mile or two you can find: Taco Bell, Uno's Pizzaria, Burger King, some pizza shops.

More info to come.

And the weather report at 10 PM Friday for Sunday is: 51-71 degrees, possible scattered thunderstorms, 60% chance of precipitation.
I will check again several times tomorrow. They predicted not so good stuff today and it was very pleasant.

The batteries are charging.
05/03/2008 07:04:46 PM · #22
It sounds like our odds are improving:
49-72 degrees, 30% chance of precip, and isolated thunderstorms

10:00 at opening? Or would you prefer more like 11? Meet at the front gate, just before the entrance? I take it the cameras will be clue enough.

Karen and I talked-I said I would be there at 10 am. If Karen checks in and wants to change the time, I'll check here before we leave tomorrow. Otherwise, we'll be there at 10. We can always come back up by the entrance at 11.

10 it is. I was trying to be diplomatic about times. I know some people are not early ones. 10 is great. I'll see you then.

Have fun tomorrow guys! I'm so sad I'm missing it!
