Er... Apple introduced that way back in 2005. It's a cool gizmo, but doesn't work with the iPod Touch (unfortunately).

Huh... I wonder if Microsoft has something similar for the new Zunes... Screw Apple! :P

BTW this is new to at least me, so you've accomplished your mission!

Useless Fact #86,142:
Peter Jackson and his film crew used their iPods to transport the "digital dailies" to and from the set during filming of "Lord of The Rings"

The Epson P-5000 (Mac +PC) is a popular device for this purpose. Personally, I don't like the interface and the occasional glitches when downloading to computer and prefer to take along my custom 12-inch iBook (with a large and fast HD) with a FW reader.

most archos players have USB host capabilities, so you can plug a card reader into them and dump the photos. i also own a creative zen vision which can dump photos off a CF card (it has a built in CF slot)

I just found this thread.
My wife bought an ipod classic (80G) last week. I talked her into getting the 80G because I was under the impression you could connect the camera for downloading shots. The apple person even sold me the camera adaptor for it. Tried it and it "didn't recognise the device". I then read on forums that the classic doesn't support cameras. Then I found this thread.
Is it true the classic wont support cameras ? If so - what a bloody waste of money - I could have gotten a 1G mp3 player for the amount of music needed.
Is there any way around this ? If I connect a card reader to the ipod - will this work with the classic?
If there is no way around this I feel I have been conned.
