Ok help me out here.I have a Nikon D2H and a Nikkor 400mm 2.8 lense. My images are not as pretty as I would like them. They seem to lack the color and crispness I want from my pics.If anyone has or had a D2H can you tell me what your settings were,or any photographer that can help........... Thanks,,,OH by the way I used that setup with my buck pics on my portfolio, just remember it was almost dark when I got those pics.

I don't own the D2H but is see you were using a 400mm lens (2.8).
It appears the camera may have been on a tripod since the foreground OOF tree limbs(???) on the right to are in the same position through your photos on your profile page.

Was was your SS/AP/ISO set at with these shots?

I've never shot a Nikon before, but have done a fair amount of post-processing of their images.
I see from the exif that they were shot at ISO800 at 1/13-15th sec at f/2.8
All things considered, they came out pretty well for that slow of a shutter speed. One common issue with the DSC files that I have fought, is that they are not sRGB and will look "flat" in post-processing after saving them in Photoshop, unless the are converted over to sRGB.

Can you give us an idea of your workflow after the card leaves the camera.

I'm glad you were able to post the setting on his pictures, Brad. Thats what I thought while looking at the pictures, his ss was slow. Those shutter speeds at 400mm, even on a tripod, the photo most likely will not be sharp because the dear is not static. He will be moving and even the slightest move take away from the sharpness he was hoping for.

But I do agree with you, for the setting you posted his shots are good.

Just my 2 cents.

# Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) = 7692307/100000000 second = 1/13 second = 0.07692 second
# Lens F-Number/F-Stop = 28/10 = F2.8
# Exposure Program = aperture priority (3)
# ISO Speed Ratings = 800

Yup definitely the shutter speed is way too low for a 400mm lens. All things considered these shots turned out pretty good, at least the web-sized shots.
