Wondering if anyone got any good shots of the Moon over SanFran? I was driving into work this morning with the moon shining over the GG bridge. Then coming across the Bay bridge the Moon was directly behind the Coit Tower. Would have been a great shot. Unfortunately would have been arrested if I stopped on the bridge, plus didn't have the right lens.

While you're at it, you should see Frederic Larson's photoblog and gallery. He's a photographer for the S.F. Chronicle, and has most of the best moon shots of S.F. that I've seen.

See the Moons link at the middle right.

Not this morning, but I'm thinking of trying tomorrow. Unfortunately, from most of the vantage points available to me, it usually sets closer to Mt. Tamalpais in Marin than over the city skyline. :-(

But if it's right behind the GG Bridge it would be OK ... :-)

What time was it when you were crossing the bridge?

It was prob about 6:40 am. If I didn't have commuters with me I would have stopped on TI and tried to get some shots.

I like shooting from the Berkeley hills, Its far enough away that you get alot of the city in the shot, instead of just one building.

Where are you for that shot? From where I usually shoot, the Moon's always way over to the right.

yeah I really don't think you could get a really good perspective of the moon over the city right now since it rises in the east. You might get a veiw from ocean beach or embarcadero looking south but if you want the skyline your best bet is gonna be photoshop ;)

His photo is of the Moon setting over SF, taken from the East Bay Hills -- I just can't figure out the location.

Here is a unedited (so far) wide-angle view just after moonrise last night (3/21) looking eastward from the same hills -- a compromise exposure to try and not blow out the Moon while being able to see Mount Diablo.
