The Tim Malloys. A small Irish band from the twin cities. Some of my best college memories involve these guys and the irish pub we spent a little too much time and way too much $$$ at drinking!

Nu-Tra

My buddy plays synth. Very different sound, Devo-ish with a punk edge. Their live shows are indredible!

Sinch: the best band you will never hear, and regret not doing so:

Sinch

Also, John Fairhurst, an absolute prodigy on guitar. seriously. This guy is like Jimmy Page, then some. And I don't say that lightly, his songwriting, style and quality are second to none and he has that unique quality I haven't heard since Jimmy Page to make it sound like what it is if that makes sense.

Felix "the Catt" and Baga Tricks edit to add--->Listen to this CD especially track 2<----edit to add again Wow!!! 2 hours of their music on this link!

It's simply amazing to see a white boy band playing roots reggae and ska so incredibly well. This is an iconic Florida Keys band that I used to love to go see. I'm not sure what has happened to them over the last couple of years but it seems that the band leader/founder, Felix, has been caught a few times with some 'illegal' substances which has kept him away from perfoming for awhile. I hope to see him performing again.

This CD is one that I actually haven't heard until now. Sounds good so far. Check it out.

I have their previous CD which is amazing.

Way back in the day, there was a band called "El Groupo Sexo". I have no idea if they made any albums or even recorded, but they were crazy good fun to see live.

Good call, Jib - my daughter introduced me to their album Dance Macabre a few years ago. I shall have to dig it out for the car for driving to work next week!

Hopefully my Icelandic friends can appreciate this, but a band that's not as well known in the US (although it has been gaining popularity in the past couple of years is Sigur Ros.

Basically, they are amazing.

My ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE - an Australian Band...

My Friend the Chocolate Cake

The Australians here may have heard of them, but the rest of the world sure should - PURE MAGIC!

I know they probably aren't unheard of for most other people, but I just found out about them a few weeks ago and saw them live...we met the band and they were extremely nice and signed things for the boys and talked about music. I really enjoy their sound, too. Anyway, here are The Afters.

Another good (and unsigned) band is The North Gate, who I just heard yesterday but am really liking so far.
