Here's a page with a whole bunch of DPC shots. I recognise one of Bear's, one of Slippy's and others I can't put names to.
He's not claiming them as his work, but he IS offering them as wallpapers.

I think I see one of Marbo's IR shots, and several Iceland landscapes. If that's the biggest sizes, then they're not worth much for wallpaper.

Don't you like how he says on the home page, "Any percieved infringement on any copyrights, trademarks or patents is strictly unintentional."?

He just couldn't remember the I before E except after C rule.

(Damn, none of mine...again!) Errrr, I mean good thing I didn't find any of mine on there or that guy would be getting a "percieved" beat down! ;-)

I recognize 7 that are from DPC origins.

Its okay that he's posted these and encouraged people to copy them, any copyright infringement is unintentional

This hacks me off even more right now. A company that has been using three of my stolen shots to promote jeep tours started selling prints of them this year. The idiot owner told me "Yea, we sold about sixty 8x10's this year." Anyone want to guess what those sixty 8x10's are going to cost him? My lawyer, who was standing next to me, laughed.

Looks like he's changed his mind;

Desktop Backgrounds

I used to have about twenty to thirty really nice wallpapers here, but I was told that I couldn't display them because I didn't have the original artists permission. At the first complaint I propmtly took them down.

The best place to find nice wallpapers is //www.dpchallenge.com. If you find one that you like, you can right-click the image and select Set as Background.

This part is good.

This part is not. I hope people don't think they can come here to download images.

Well, I gave him a comment from his front page (blog) or something and told him he was infringing on copyright. Guess I need to go back and give some more advice.

the link in here still goes to the wallpapers page though (never mind..after a reload it was gone)

If all they use them for is personal wallpapers, I don't see the problem at all. We can't protect our images for things like that, period, and there's no reason to. If my photos were chosen by random people so they could have nice background wallpapers on their computer, all the damn power to them. I'd be honored.

For me it's just the whole copyright awareness thing, that just because it's online doesn't mean it's open season. The more people see people offering others' work the more they assume it's fine, and where do we draw the line? At the jeep dealer selling 8x10's? At the painter copying and selling for thousands?

Personally I'd be flattered if someone wanted my work on their desktop but they should still know it belongs to someone who has rights to its usage.

You answered your own question. You draw the line at "When someone that isn't you is selling it."

Pretty easy line to draw.
