Fuji, with a distaste for government in the "Land of the Fee".
Freedom is elusive for those of us who like to make their own way in the world instead of being herded like sheep and cattle into a cookie cutter lifestyle.
"Home of the Brave" still stands true though. I have high regards for our military rank and file heroes. All of them.

And the US is a whole lot more purple than red or blue. That red/blue map shows up only because of our idiotic, horribly outdated electoral college.

At least you get to vote for whoever you want to. In Canada we put one X in a box to choose a party, and that automatically makes all of the choices for us, from national to local. There was a referendum to change this method during the last election and it was fairly strongly voted down, darn seniors. I fear change too, but dang, I'd like to at least choose on both the local and national levels who I put on a filet mignon diet. :-(

Pentax - to the right of center...but not necessarily Republican...the party has lost its way. Independent, YES.

I realize that this thread is all in good fun ...
But he truth is we are a country divided. To be called "United" is downright ironic if you ask me. Some say we've been this way since we were founded - but if you ask me, something needs to bring us together.

There are philosophical differences in these sides but most of us want the same thing ... to shoot good pictures ... regardless of equipment ;P

Whether one is on the left or right side is not so important.

What is important is 'We do not need no McCain, no more killing in Irak, no more Invasion..., that's such an outrageous act of violation for peace and respect....

So, although I am not American (my girlfriend is), I would say: Go Obama, the US needs a serious change of attitude toward all nations of the world...

And oh by the way, I am a Nikonian...

Can anyone here name a single major or minor accomplishment of Senator Obama, off the top of their head, since he was elected to Congress? Didn't think so...lol.

I can't and from a few polls taken neither can many of his supporters. I'd still vote for him...why the heck not. Mix things up a bit, just for fun.

Come try the Gool-Aid....Mmmmm it's tasty.

Hardcore Canon lover and mostly republican. I actually vote on the cantidate not the party. While I may not agree with how the war is going I do not disagree with capturing a murder. If we had captured Osama I actually am not sure we would have gone into Iraq.

Ahem, I'm only 43. That was to reform provincial elections in Ontario. First past the post is better. Do you really want Queen's Park populated with the likes of the Family Coalition party, or worse?

This is FoxNews speak.
Ask any American this about any senator ... even in their own state ... you tell me the results.

I just want to vote for who I want, regardless of party. But as you point out, I'm more than willing to give that up to keep the Green Pary out of sight and to the teenagers who want to appear sensitive so they can get laid.

I wonder how many innocent people were killed in Irak just because one idiot was only concerned with his own interests. That's right, let's be comfortable, let's watch Fox News and play the game...the war is still going on...

Have you heard 'the bravery of being out of range', maybe you should...

Sick of the mess they find, On their desert stage, And the bravery of being out of range, Yeah the question is vexed, Old man what the hell you gonna kill next, Old timer who you gonna kill next, Hey bartender over here, Two more shots, And two more beers, Sir turn up the TV sound, The war has started on the ground, Just love those laser guided bombs, They're really great, For righting wrongs, You hit the target, And win the game, From bars 3,000 miles away, 3,000 miles away, We play the game, With the bravery of being out of range (except from 'The Bravery of Being Out of Range', Roger Waters)...

Stop the war, it is good for mankind...

We can't just have no war, yeah it would be great to have a world of peace, but war is necessary sometimes and in this case we are attacking people that threaten to attack us. If we back out too early, my bet would be that there is an attack on American soil within a few months.

eta: there have been no attacks on American soil since we invaded Iraq, and I think its more than coincidence.

On a somewhat similar note, how many Americans do you think can indicate how many US soldiers have died in the current war in Iraq, or even get the number to within 1000 ?

I'm not sure which is the more telling poll statistic.

Canon A-1 SLR for 25 years, Nikon DSLR going for 2 years and unlikely to change, political agnostic, thoroughly disgusted with the way that the one who leads us gets elected 'cause he's the most convincing liar.

Just as a general announcement -- This started as a light hearted "poll."

If you want to discuss specifics of each candidate, political party systems, or the USA government in general, please find one of the several other threads already doing that.

Please keep this one on topic.

Please.

Sheesh, really. Nothing puts me to sleep faster than politics.
