Any comments?

Ive been bringing the birds to me lately instead of vice-versa. I tinted my storm window, turned out all my lights and the TV, and sat and sat and sat. I've got 3 birds that come see me on a regular basis now. These two... and a cardinal... Fred. I have some amazing pics of Fred that I will post at a later date.

It's very addicting to sit there in the dark... there's a lot more action going on out there when they don't know you're watching. Addicting in the way fishing or sitting in a tree waiting for a deer, except I'm warm and dry and won't fall out of the tree if I have one too many.

I love the 4th one. You have them labeled finch - but he looks rather like a Chickadee?

I love watching the birds and have also discovered the joys of watching from warm and cozy indoors. I dont have a tinted window, but I do have a big window and a lot of feeders!

Nice shots and interesting technique. Left you a few comments.

I believe they are Black-capped chickadees.

THANKS! You know if someone told me a couple of years ago, that I would enjoy bird-watching, I would never have believed it.

I know exactly what you mean. I would have laughed, but now I am obsessed with 'collecting' different types of birds. I am still not great at telling straight off what type of bird, so I take lots of pictures and spend hours after trying to identify!

I love doing bird shots and love the cardinal you captured! Those blue jays are not easy to get, they tend to be very shy and the chickadees are just too cute! Great work! What lens are you using?

They watch us too.
I also enjoy finding birds to try to get a good shot of. I think that it is one of the most enjoyable rewards for me to see that I have a good wild bird shot when I bring it up on screen.

These are coming along nicely - if I may offer you a little tip, what many people into bird photography do is find a section of branch that they can fix securely to their bird table, then drill a few holes in it to put the seed in.

The birds are happy to sit on it and root about for their food because it feels more natural, and when you take a photo it looks more natural, as they simply appear to be sitting in a tree - it's a win-win :- )

p.s. remember to drill any holes where you will still get a good view of the bird ;- )

That is an excellent suggestion. In a lot of bird shots a feeder seems to sort of spoil the "natural" effect for me.
I have a lot of birds around my yard because I have 4 parrots that live outside, and I scatter the left over feed in the drive and in the yard. The edge of the Florida Everglades where I live is supposed to be one of the best birding areas in the country, which is fortunate for me.

And no dead birds.

Sorry I just couldn't help myself.

Nice shots of the birds. I had a setup like this until the local cats ate a bird and that was that. I learnt how to get rid of birds, forever, though

Like the tip.. that's what I'm looking for. I do have a large stem near where I shoot. Two small birds always land here, this titmouse (?) and the chickadee.

Here's another of the Bluejay:

Here are some in motion stuff that I sometimes have fun with:

I here is my pesky little guy.... He keeps knocking the food to the ground and the birds stay down there where I can't shoot them.

I call him Slippy :)

Those bird shots are awesome, but I must say that for me the photo of the squirrel is a money maker!! Too cute, and really shows his pesky personality!!
