well i just voted for a while and more than 50% of the people got it all wrong
i see sharp pict NICE pict etc but not what the challenge was all about
and make no mistake those people are voting no wonder that the scores are so low
they dont have a qlue and i am afraid they never will
rest my case (for now)

I'm right at a 4.9 which is 1 full point+ above what I got on the tilted challenge. I'd be happy if it got back to a 5. Still plenty of time to vote.

I'm trying ... slowly but surely to comment and be "fair":

You have rated 69 of 293 images (24%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 51 images (17%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 5.7826.

it is a bit tougher than usual.

Edit: forgot to add that I'm receiving a 6.7

You may ribbon with the 6.7
I'm still around 5.8+ , but gradually sliding downhill into the blur.
Even 5.8 will put it about #3 on my profile page though, so I'm happy.
The 9 comments, a wish and a fav are "feel good" items.

I have a 4.9 right now and I'm quite disappointed. One commenter ever said they'd like to see the object better! Isn't that exactly what we're not supposed to do?

yes this neuron challenged person told me also
can we name him or her?

Good for you! I agree -- that is definitely in ribbon range in this challenge. I can't wait to see what you came up with that appealed so with these voters that are being so harsh overall. Way to GO!

I'm participating/voting/commenting in this challenge, and yes, I personally like to get some idea of what is being blurred. The few 9s and 10s I've given out so far have been to shots where you can see the subject - then see it again as it's moved.

As for those who may not know yet...oof means out of focus. Something stationary that is not in focus is, well, oof. Something MOVING - either camera or subject - while shutter is open, is blurred.

If anyone has a problem with my comments, by all means pm me.

snaffles, while not attempting in any way to change your mind on what you consider out of focus or blurred, I would wonder what category you would put (say) a sharply focused rock that had Gaussian blur applied to it. Would it be a rock that then found it possible to move and become blurred, or would it become an out of focus rock. (given the illusion of out of focus by use of a blur tool.)

I'd have to see for myself how convincing the blur effect is in this case...:-)

My litmus test isn't wether it's 'blurry' or 'out of focus' as defined above, but wether it looks like a poorly taken pic or wether the 'blur' or 'out of foucus'ness actually adds something to the composition. If I don't see that it adds anything then your not getting a good score. That was the challenge. To make the blurriest most chaotic image and still have it be ENGAGING. If the blur doesn't ADD to or completely dominate the composition then you have failed. If the subject is in focus and blur around it then your not doing well with me either. The blur should be a part of the subject or in my opinion this is not 'the blurriest'.
