I was afraid to look this morning, but I'm glad I did. This is making up for the last couple that have bombed. (Now I just need to figure out how to do this all the time)

Good thing we have no bet on this one ;)

You know I don't understand the voting crowd anymore. I have an easy 7+ image and I am just above a 6. I'm so disapointed in the way people are voting. I know there isn't anything I can do about it but seriously think something should be done to help fight this battle of low voting.

I think that's why it's doing well. You must've jinxed me last time ... some sort of zombie curse, apparently ... assuming zombies are lost souls, but maybe not? I need to research this when I have more time.

Score is holding, just to stay on topic ;-)

If this held up it would be a PB. This for a photo I shot 1 hour before rollover and submitted just to have something in the challenge. Maybe I should do that every time.

Well said, Jon!!! Your post was too long to quote, but every word of it was good, and I agree with you 100%!

I was so pleased with the photo, and it is really gratifying that other people do, too. I haven't started voting yet, but had a quick scan through the entries - there are some excellent ones in there!

True. However, as I made a point of in this thread, a mediocre score on DPC is WAY better than the average snapshot and is not something to be embarrassed about. I give a 3 to stuff that looks like the average snapshot, and I always explain why I leave it.

I can see from your own profile that you have high standards and turn in some good scores. You judge others entries against a tough set of standards which you seem capable of meeting yourself. This certainly is NOT a case of the pot calling the kettle black. All I ask is that, in the spirit of what this site is about, that you leave others some feedback when you leave those low votes, so they can improve.

I apologize for detouring this thread again. We now return you to our regularly scheduled rants about trolls. :-}

Actually it's up from last hour. Admittedly it was a last minute attempt at something silly and fun...

Wow, at first glance at this thread, without having looked at the photos in the challenge, you'd think there wasn't a whole lot of high scoring material there, but after having begun my voting and having looked at most of them, I have a feeling there are some very high scorers lurking because there were quite a few that very much looked like ribbon material to me!

Maybe its that first day brutality voting going on and it will pick up.

I just want to remind those people that are voting that the details of this challenge are "Let your imagination run wild!"

NO WHERE does it say that that you actually have to be peeking out, in, around behind or through something for this pictures in this challenge to be met. Please think before you vote. If you’re handing out a 3 tell them why. If your giving it a 4 let them know WHY you don’t like it.

Please explain ALL low votes. As per the voting rules READ THEM Understand them. I'm sick and tired of people getting 1's, 2's, 3's and 4's on pictures that honestly don't deserve them. If the image isn't your style but it's a good clean clear crisp image... it does NOT deserve anything lower than a 5. If the lighting is off or OOF tell them.. If the image is completely a disaster let the person know it and give them the score they deserve. IMO NO ONE should ever get a 1.

And there is no reason why a ribbon winner should get anything lower than a 4. Just doesn’t make sense. Something needs to be done about this!!!

Why am I reading my complaints over and over again in almost every challenge threads coming from other people that I put in the past, and tried to give some ideas to fix it?

The most frustrating part is the eye candies (or some funnier photos) wins the challenges, and others get (most of the time) crappy votes.

There is no fix. Even if "DPC institute" drops "How to vote" books from sky (not heavy ones... no one wants to get sued) this issue will not be fixed.

I am not going to start any other conversation, old ones buried under a thick mud... but I must mention here, we might, only "might" need a challenge voted by judges only!

I am not talking about this anymore, I had to say something, because the complaint here, very very common one :D

Sorry. I just reread the rules you so kindly linked to. Nowhere does it say you "must" comment on lower votes cast.

However it does say you "must": (quote from rules)"rate entries on a scale of 1 to 10. A score of 1 is a “bad” photo, and a score of 10 is a “good” photo."

The scale is 1-10, not 5-10.

Thread"S"... more than one.

But, they all got swept under rugs.

Here is what "I" decided to do. I can't change this site, it's not mine, I surely can care only within small limits, no more. I am going to enter as much as "eye candy" shots so I hopefully can win some ribbons to put my resume. I also am entering local club contests, which I am also winning with different judgments... and I am starting my own website, which also will have a different voting system.

There might be some changes in DPC in the future... how far future, that's unknown :)
