Pretty much the whole city is full of lights. What sort of thing are you looking to shoot? Personally I love the Fremont Street Experience, but a shot drive to Hoover Dam is pretty neat too.

The water display at the Bellagio is pretty cool.

I have been several times and love the lights of the strip and the fountains at the Bellagio are awesome and I have many photos (in fact that is where I am staying). We have never been to the Hoover Dam and might make it this time. What I am really looking for is the best areas to shoot and you have suggested some already.

Hoover Dam is really nice, I personally loved Mt. Charleston, outside of Vegas. Just a beautiful area. I have some shots in my profile of it.

On top of the Stratosphere at night, bring a small tripod!

Tripods are forbidden in Stratosphere tower. Had to leave my Gorillapod by the belldesk.

This is taken from the bar at the top (62. floor I think) of TheHotel at Mandalay Bay.

Free outdoor shows other than the Freemont street experience and the Bellagio, The Volcano at the Mirage, and Sirens of TI at Treasure Island.
Also of interest at the Mirage is the Secret Garden, not much photogenic with the lions and tigers, but talk about up close and personal with dolphins do you want to know the colors of the eyes, that’s right poolside, about $17.
For the fountains of the Bellagio a trip up the Eiffel tower at the Paris might be your best angle.
If all else fails there is always something going on at the LAS Vegas speedway, I’ll be there on April 12, NHRA, baby..

Never been up the eiffel tower for that angle - interesting idea.
Another good view is from the middle bar at the Bellagio, out.

Depends on how small it is, I have one that will collapse and fit into a standard purse and they let me up with it. Maybe I got lucky with the attendant.
