gdaygday,

a quick question as im new to all this - wondering if inverting the colors in a photo is allowed under advanced editing rules?

advanced editing I think is a yes...basic editing I think it depwnds on how you do it (hue/saturation slider)

To confirm, yes in Advanced, and yes in Basic if it's done uniformly to the entire shot. FWIW, an easy way to do so in Basic is with Curves. Pull the upper right point down to lower right corner, and lower left point up to upper left corner. Done. Or Image>Adjustments>Invert works too ;-)

Negative Image challenge was Basic Editing.
Ink River Falls

Here I went to LAB color to invert just the luminance, keeping the colors the same. IMHO, more interesting than inverting the colors in a color image.
