seeing as they are giving you something i'm not sure you have much to stand on with complaints.

You play like you practice.

Does that mean you are cheap professionally as well ? Seems to be what you are implying.

I ordered rosco sample swatches about 6 months ago and they fedex'ed them overnight for free.

so I ordered mine from Lee and it came within a few days...

Ironically I don't even have a flash yet. I ordered those puppies with thinking they'd be here in a month or 2 and by then I'd have my light set-up but I haven't even bought lights yet! Monday. :) Monday I will buy a flash and be the strobist I so desire to be.

You mean to tell me that you stole my swatches and you don't even have a flash? Why I oughta...

;)

(still waiting patiently for mine, but I should check for local distributors who have samples...)

lol! Yea I don't know how that happened! I don't even live by the distributor. In fact they came from Burbank, CA which I used to live a few mins from before I moved to Philly.

You can think of it anyway you can. The way I see it as you are offering someone a service and even though it's free, they suck at what they do. Even if I do get them I would never order anything from them just because of this right here.

do you think they may have logged the click throughs and are aware that a bunch of requests originated from this thread, and in all liklihood, most of those wouldn't turn into any sales?

do you think they know that there are even more requests originating from strobist?

maybe you're right. maybe they were/are out of stock.

maybe i am just laid back when it comes to something for nothing.

How is everyone USING them? You know - how do you physically use them tearing them completely apart? I like that they are individually marked with a piece of paper, giving details about each one. These papers are really handy & I'd like to know which one I've used... AFTER testing, etc.

I got some keychain caribiners and put half of them on a ring. Easy to sort through, can pull out just the one I need, then I put it back where it came from.

I never got mine from either vendor. I got a price list in the mail from a Rosco dealer though.

Patience young grasshopper OR find a local dealer and pay them a visit as has been mentioned here. Seems the local distributors here close on Saturdays though. :S

Received my Lee Filters Designers Edition yesterday with a catalogue of all their products. It also includes a colour chart and explains what each filter's use is. Cool stuff.

Took aprox. 3 weeks to arrive.

Got mine today, don't know when I ordered them. Don't know what I am going to do with them as I only have studio lights/flashes (not sure the proper name for them). I don't have little flashes.

I don't either, but somebody suggested taping them over the lens too. I'm planning to play with them on flashlights, etc., if I ever get over my chronic laziness...

Still haven't got mine yet. Guess by now they aren't going to send them.

You know what's funny is I was just looking at your pictures on your profile and then I saw that you posted to this thread after I did. Small world today I guess.

I picked up the free swatch book and played a little, but how do you get the background to be uniform color. I end up with a gradient background instead

I got my "free order" in just this last week. There are a crazy lot of gels in the sample book!

I'm upset I was really looking forward to using them. Would anyone mind sending me a few basic colors?

Hey Joseph (Dirt_Diver)

The gels I used on my shots were theatrical gels that I purchased on ebay pretty cheap. They are quite large and can be cut into around 6-8 gels or more each. The pack I got had Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Pink & Purple.

Search for:

LIGHTING GELS Par Cans 38 56 64 Stage DJ Bands LIGHT
or
Par 64 gel sheets 6 pack mixed colours

This may be an alternative for you.

Edited to remove links: When I tested them they would open with my ebay site all hooked up and ready to purchase. It freaked me out so I have just left the searches.

I have been having fun using my Lee and Rosco gels on my strobes but have not been satisfied with my method for attaching them to the strobes (blue tape). I decided to come with a better solution and ended up with this.

A Plexiglas's gel holder.

Details and more photos are on my blog

bumpity bump.

i never got my gels i ordered in the mail, but i found a local distributor who had tons. my issue was that they came on a swivel-stick thing (not sure how to describe it), so i had to cut it apart to get individual gels off. and now each gel has a hole in it where the stick was. :(

anyway, need to play with them. i'll report back.

Never recieved mine either, oh well... I think I may have to resubmit the request or purchase one off BH with my next purchase.

I never received an order either. I put in a request many months ago.
