I am down south as well. As a Gloucestershire boy, I am roughing it in Berkshire, for the past 25 years!!

warwickshire here.

I just bought a B+W ND1000 (the mental 10 stop nd filter) so i am going to try and go for a daytime motion blur type shot rather than the oof/camera shake night shot thing...

Think there will be a voting regime in place whereby if you actually get anything in focus you get a 1?

Chatty lot aren't we? ;-) How are we all today?

I've pm-ed you all (apologies if I've forgotten anyone) with possibilities for this week's challenges.

I'm in for Blurry Mess. Wondering what is happening with the Olympics, as to standings/results etc??
03/09/2008 04:01:07 PM · #112
I can technically say i am a professional photographer... but i just see it as "I get paid to do my hobby"... as i'm not that good imo. Work at a local family studio in stratford as the "second photographer" i suppose you could call it, main guy has a day off, i go in and run the show basically: Wink Photo

Olympics - no idea what is happening with that, but i know it would take a long time to sort out the results anyway and they are doing it out of the goodness of their hearts so i'm not all that bothered either way - just a good way to get me entering challenges and meet some new people i suppose :)

As for the shots - the Cathedral is fine but it really doesnt give any punch to the word "pollution" - if it had smoke billowing out of the chimney then maybe...

Blurry mess - not sure really - might be because i have seen a lot of these types of photos on another site (this guy likes doing them and some of them are great) but it seems a bit unimaginative: DSC09542 is the one out of those i would choose.

btw - we ok discussing shots on here as long as they arent publicly visible?

I'm going out tomorrow when the storm hits the midlands for some fun with wind and rain :D (i'm taking my camera sleeve...)

Students rule xD Your research does sound really interesting, what sort of software do you use?
We are creating on screen and installation based interfaces, for the public to interact with at the moment in my minor, its amazing :) Im having to learn loads of new programs though, which is rather difficult but fun!

Wow, I love gardening, and have the house im renting now has one for me to play with!!! At the moment, it has grass, a tree, a supposed "vegetable patch" and an air raid shelter. Ive been told to do what I want :D

Is how the olympics is going at the moment

Im going out tomorrow too, when the storm hits the south west lol!!!

Yeah it's fine as long as you guys don't vote on my shot :-) Thanks Zodiac and inshaala for your thoughts. I'm a bit torn now cuz you've gone for different shots. Anyone going to cast the casting vote? ;-)

You guys have got a perfect day for the member's challenge. I'm going to stay inside in the warm today :-)

Ive got to make the 5 mile walk up to uni today, so we will see what shots I can get!!! Its not looking great, just very very windy and wet. Everything is just grey, and i havent seen anything that really fits Harsh Environments yet :(
03/10/2008 05:02:39 PM · #116
Not got anything yet and don't think I'll be able to.

Sorry guys, will try to get something tonight or tomorrow night. If we get stuck I can throw in anything, just to submit and ensure 4 entries.

Hi all.

I made a momentous decision and then changed my mind lol.

The momentous decision would have been to enter the blurry mess challenge. The logic being my pollution shots would have benefited more from advanced editing - hence I was planning to put one in the free study. But my blurry mess shots just didn't seem to do it for me in editing. So pollution it is. I hope I don't take too much of a DNMC hit.

How are we all? Who's in a challenge? I'm not surprised if one or two decide to sit it out this week as the weather has been awful :-(

I've still not shot anything - the weather was decent enough this afternoon to go out and shoot but I was stuck writing Chapter 5 :( Am going to have a go at blurry mess or maybe pollution if I can somehow manage to construct something on my lightbox...

Had a high of 6.84 and I'm at the low of 6.49 right now. So looks like I will be missing my PB, but still a great score for me.

Working on an entry for blurry right now.
