First off, I really like this printer. Awesome B&W prints, color and sharpness is superb and really fits my needs as a amatuer/professional photographer.

However, I've been having a few problems with papers with little roller dots appearing on some selected papers. The first one I really noticed was the Premium Plus HP photo paper. After researching a bit online, I discovered that this was "swellible" paper and not compatible with the printer and to use the advanced photo paper. Solved that one. However it has reappeared on the Harman Paper and a tiny bit on the Museo Silver Rag paper. Even though they say they are compatible.

I think was is happening is that the ink when its still a bit wet on the paper gets fed through the rollers, produces these faint dots as the ink isn't quite dry. One idea I had was to use the Maximum DPI setting on those papers and that would slow down how fast it prints. Hopefully allowing the paper to absorb more of the ink. Also it seems to be better if I use the Speciality media tray rather than the main tray.

Anyone else experience same sort of problems?

Is there a selection in the print driver for high speed print? If so, turn it off.

I was thinking of purchasing this printer in a few weeks. I went to an HP demonstration, where they gave out free prints. The HP rep made me a canvas print and it came out beautiful, I was really surprised at the quality. During the demo there were several glitches, the HP rep said it was a driver issue with the Mac that was being used. Have you experienced any other issues other then then spotting that you are referring too?

Nope, just the spotting issue. I've had this printer for about a year and thats the only issue. No banding or clogged head or anything. Like I said, its very good, but just with particular papers it creates those nasty dots.
