He has to agree to it. If he doesn't, then he stays and Nixter becomes alternate. Let me know when you've figured this all out.

No worries. Can you please explain what the roles of an alternate is...and when they are used. For example...if a team members is not participating regularly in each round...does an alternate then get put in...or what happens...?

I'm unable to check the PM until later today, but I'm so looking forward to these Olympics I doubt any explanation would see me give up my spot.

I sent you a PM explaining that due to the amount of people wanting to join the Aussie team...I looked at your level of participation. In 3 years you have entered 3 challenges and only made one comment. The other applicants have a larger amount of participation under their belt. Therefore I feel you would be stretched to complete such a tourney and that is why I WOULD like to have you as a back up. I am thinking of the team and really would like to ensure that ALL team members are going to be able to keep up with the entries as required.

Hmmm... would I qualify for that? I live in NZ and married to a kiwi. I'm sure the Aussies won't mind if I defect, since they're full up anyways...

I'd say yep, call your self a Kiwi and join up. The Kiwi team isn't very full from what I can tell.

Sweet bro, I'm in :)

An alternate may only be a replacement. If one of the members of your team quit the tourney for some reason because they feel they can't participate in many of the challenges, then the alternate comes in. Essentially, the alternate cannot be used unless someone from their team OFFICIALLY resigns their position.

But what about the fact that in the month I've had my camera, I haven't missed a challenge?

I will try for the UK! Put me down for a place, but I am sure we will end up at the bottom of the list with my help:))

Added: But someone needs to explain the rules to me in simple, and I stress...SIMPLE...english!

As I just said in a PM to Cujee...my main concern was that you would need to enter more in the next few weeks than you have in the last few years. Is that going to be an issue for you?

I also wanted Cujee to put a clause in to cover the teams. In tourneys of the past teams have been let down my members promising to enter and not bothering to enter and not bothering to stay in contact...letting the team down and because the MEMBER hasn't OFFICIALLY resigned, the team wasn't able to replace them. I would like to see this area covered for the team. I am not just talking for the Aussies...but for all teams. I know people get caught up in the hype of a tourney and promise they will enter every week. But as the novelty wears off and life takes over...then some members dwindle off. This concerns me.

No need to concern yourself over this... not in regards to my commitment to this tournament anyway.

My participation history (or how you've interpreted it) doesn't reflect my commitment. While I've been a member since Jan '05, I only got my DIGITAL camera in Jan '08. Prior to that, I used my 35mm SLR or borrowed a digital when required for work, which was promptly returned (not allowing me to explore the option of entering dpChallenges). Since Jan '08 I have not missed a challenge, and I don't plan on missing any challenges any time soon.

In the rules you only need 4 of your 7 or whatever team mates to enter. I realize that maybe not all your members cannot enter the challenge because they don't have the time or something. What I can do is assign a team captain for every team, and he/she can e-mail each member individually asking them if they have an entry ready.

If you have any suggestions to resolve this problem I'm open to it.

The German Olympic Jersey. Not sure if I got the phrase right but that is suppose to read "National German Team" in German.
