Something is very wrong here. I entered the first submission that I actually shot for a Challenge (kinda) and I know my entry is pretty darn good.
I would have easily thought it would place in the Top 20 or higher. Still might I suppose???
I think people are getting killed for some very luke warm images and are voting with a little anger. Don't vote angry.
Note to self: Stay away from Basic Open Challenges....forever (LOLOL)

It is mornings like this that make me curse all dpc voters... and I am about to take out my frustration on my staff. They're about to have a really bad day.
I had this shot pegged for a mid-upper 5.

I was expecting to do much better with this one (even to get my 1st ribbon!)... but it seems I'm still far from knowing the voters! :)
The comment I have says that even when the eyes I'm showing are great my image seems more a portrait than an eyes shot... ok, it is a portrait but those (beautiful IMHO) eyes are clearly framed by a very expressive face. Checking (quickly) the other entries It seems there are plenty of shots doing the same, of course there are some isolated eyes shots "matching" the challenge topic more closely but I think it is ok to show some context, but well... I need to learn DPC != real life.

Well hope the score picks up a bit, I tried to produce a picture which would be a little bit different - stand out from the crowd and even made my own fish eye lens from a door peep hole viewer to achieve the strange perspective in the picture, I couldnt see any other fish eye effect pictures in the challenge which surprised me what with fish eye - eye having so much relevance! ;-) |

| Do you think there is tactical voting happening at DPC of late? there does seem to be a lot of great pictures achieving lower scores than they might of in older challenges. |

I think what happened was, there was an election in 20 states, and probably voting machines somehow got hooked up to Langdon's servers directly, and we all know how much we "love" our politicians, so people, they all voted low to all the candidates... "Hillary -1" "Obama +2" "McCain -27" so, because of this technical problem we got screwed... should be ok during a couple of days since voting is over...
There goes my explanation :P
PS: In November, to avoid this situation again, let's not have any challenge during the election day LOL |

I see from the thread I have lots of company down here in 4-land. Took a chance on some different processing and it seems the voters don't like it. S'alright; they're entitled to disagree with me once in awhile. |
