There was a discussion awhile back about the largest Canon lens. Can anyone remember where that was? I have looked thru the forums and can not find it.

Thanks guys. Someone at work was asking me what was the largest and I could not remember where the forum was. Again, thanks.

I will keep your secret. However, I did find it there, but I thought there was a larger one discussed, therefore, the question. But I will not pass on your source to anyone, unless they ask:)

You can buy a used one at B+H for a mere $99,000.

Well, there's this monster from Sigma, but even with the 2x converter it's still a bit shorter than the Canon.

Just missing a sensor apparently...

"The dedicated Li-ion battery BP-21 is used to power the zooming and AF operation. This battery is built in the lens barrel. For the convenience of the photographer, focusing distances and focal lengths can be viewed on the lens`s built-in LCD panel."

I wouldn't get one if I could afford it :P the camera looks like a pimple at the end of that thing. It's like going hunting with tank. geeesh, not mention the back pain tying to cary it, and try to protect during a bear attack :P

If memory serves, don't they also have a 1600mm that is not available to the general public? I seem to remember reading an article by an 'industry type' who had some fun with that and a canon vid cam which had a 6x crop...

You got it all wrong. The lens is your weapon against the bear!
