You could just buy a server and get a DSL line. (LOL)

I used Netfirms for a long time. There is a banner, but if you think CSS it shouldn't be an issue.

I am afraid that the consequence of a "free" website
is ad's, banners, pop overs or pop unders.
I got lucky, my wife owns a web design company
and lets me use some space.
I'm glad I have this opportunity.
will talk to her about setting up a space for us photogs a t
a reasonable price?not free though/because space cost,
hence the ads to pay for it. Keep an eye out for an offer.

If you only want to share the pictures, I suggest uploading them at www.webshots.com. You can make open or private albums there and guestbook is available for comments and suggestion.

I dont want just upload the snaps, i am able to do at fotopic.net , i like a place where i could add details how i shot and why i shot like that etc, so if some one who is viewing may read that correct me if i am wrong and those who want attempt same kind of shot know how it should be done

web space will most likely cost something or you will have adds. I run a simple web server of my own. it cost me about $13.00 a month above the cost of my internet cable bill. I can host unlimited domains on my server. How often will the pictures be used? I have to control my band width because I only have 128 upload. I have hosted up to 10 web sites that do not get a lot of trafic. If you would like to try some space for a month on my server and you will only get a few hits a day then I would be happy to let you test things on my server. If you are going to be uploading and viewing pages all the time then its best to pay for a site. I have seen web hosting from $5.00 to $15.00 a month. This would get you your very own domain as well "www.yourname.com". I could do the same for you but again my bandwidth is limited so I can't offer much. Domain names cost from $10.00 and up and some times come with the cost of hosting if you sign up for a year.

Running your own server is easy and any one can do it. The http server software are free some easy to run other you need to know programing. I used a very simple ready to go http server. I also have ftp and mail server software. You don't need a different machine you can use your desktop but I have a different machine running my server. You do not have to have a fast computer to run a server I was running my server off a 333 celeron for a while and seem to work well so an old computer would work fine. Unless you are gaming with the server you do need a fast computer. You can run a server from a modem but it will be very slow cable or DSL is best. If you are anyone out there would like to set up there own server for fun I would be happy to help.

a few of my server galleries are //www.beemasterlv.com/deathvalley (this is a family trip gallery larger pictures are slow loading because I wanted to show a little more detail in my photos.) //www.beemasterlv.com/gallery (photos of the work I do.)

If you enjoy doing computer stuff this is for you. If not host your site in the cheapest place you can find.

I use ICDSoft.com for my gallery - not related to the company in anyway, just a very satisfied customer. You get 333MB of web space for $5 per month (actually even a little less than that depending on your payment plan) They have awesome customer service and all the features one could ask for.

In the UK most ISP's provide free webspace many up to 50meg, with no ads. These are for personal sites only, no commercial stuff.

I used them a lot when I first got my camera, but little over the last year or so. It is excellent if you want private storage viewable only by family/friends; not good if you want to post for people surfing the web. The only two downsides are:

•last time I checked, you can't really use it as an online backup -- the hi-res printable files are not available for you to re-download, but they will burn a backup CD of your account fairly reasonably.

•smaller prints are only available in glossy, larger ones only in matte. They print on (and are owned by) Kodak.

Customer service (when needed) was excellent; shipping and prices seem pretty good. I live about 5 miles from their plant, so I get mine pretty quickly.

looks nice, 100MB. But how much bandwidth do they give?

Edit:
Doh!

How much bandwidth do I get?
We offer up to 500MB of user bandwidth per month for all non-premium users, so long as it is being used in a proper manner. Premium Users are entitled to 1000Mb of bandwidth per month. Users can purchase an unlimited amount of extra bandwidth at the price of $9 per additional 3000Mb per month. Or our bulk bandwidth package which is available at the price of $30 per month for 50000Mb of bandwidth.
Can I hotlink images? Can I put Images or files on my FreeWebs account and have them available from other sites?
Hotlinking means storing an image on one web account and linking directly to it from another website. This is also referred to as Image hosting. Some users wish to have their images available to link to from other webpages such as eBay or from their discussion boards. FreeWebs prevents this type of use as our primary purpose is to provide web hosting. However, for those users who do wish to use FreeWebs as an image host as well, we have made available Webzoom which will permit your files to be hotlinked and will also increase their bandwidth speed. You can sign up for Webzoom from your Premium Services area after logging into your FreeWebs account.
