01/29/2008 08:57:59 AM · #4
Blimey. I recognise a lot of those from here even without the names, it does look like they are being sold...

When I click order print they do seem to end up in a cart... Did he not even ask permission to post your photo's, let alone sell them?

Yeah, but t-shirts or mugs cost a bit more.

WTF? This dude even put his own copyright notice on the pix. Although,,, I thought a copyright notice had to have the year, not a range of 4 yrs?

It looks like he has everything for sale throughout his entire photo section...even his travel snapshots (which I doubt he's actually selling). So I'd assume while it looks f***'ed up, he probably hasn't disabled the sales part in his portfolio manager.

I assume it's flat out, foolishness and not theft. A simple letter to him or his host might be all that's required. I could be wrong, of course.

He even credits the photos with his copyright (click on them to get large view) and I'm sure he wants to sell them; click on order print and then look into the shoppingcart

Agreed, it just maybe that he/she did not disable the sales part of the portfolio manager or it might not be. NONETHELESS it is important that those prints should be removed for sale and a requested permission to show them off in his/her portfolio. The fact that you can place an item in the cart for sale of the prints or have them placed on T-shirts or mugs places money in the wrong hands. Has anyone else notified the other photographers of their work being 'lifted'?

Totally agree...I don't think to guy is being malicious. I'm pretty sure at Fotki the print option is all or nothing. He does site the artists names on each image, not that it makes it "ok" to put the stuff on his site. The "copyright" notice is also an automatic thing at Fotki...you have to individually disable it, like the print option per portfolio.

I really don't think this guy needs a "nastygram"...maybe just a nice little note explaining things to him he may be completely ignorant of.

...and honestly, if people don't want their images taken, don't put 'em online...it's that simple.

I agree. I mean this ones fore sale and I'm certain he's racking up on his Chicago images, as well. j/k

He's most likely a knucklehead. I'm not saying it's ok..or forgivable to be so stupid but instead of burning the village just address it and I'm sure it will go away in minutes.

Those are probably ALL default settings and keep in mind they're selling for 9 cents and they're 640px at 150...not really a selling quality. An internet glitch....what can you do?

That's "Print all for $3.96" ...in other words, 44 images for 4 bucks.
01/29/2008 09:13:38 AM · #19
If you "order print" then go to the shopping cart and click to view the photo in there, there's an option to "report image" to Fotki. The selling part is probably unintentional, probably just a default option of the site, but the images are nontheless stolen and uploaded there. Good luck!

"One more thing, seeing that I have tons of pictures in this site, if I have sent you my site, there is a very good chance that there is a picture of you in here or someone you know, or something of interest to you. The cool thing about this site, is that if you like a picture you can order the print and it will be mailed directly to your home. So just click "order print" on any picture you want, then from the menu select "SHOPPING CART" and it will show you all the pictures you chose. The pictures always come out great.
That's all from me now. ENJOY!!! " he knows

Probably some degree of error on the guy's part. He did go out of his way to list the name and photo title for each one of those. I'm thinking he may have meant well but needs some guidance. :-) The copyright notation, and obviously the ability to purchase these needs to be removed. Looks like the linking is messed up also...when you click on an image it takes you to another photo.
01/29/2008 09:23:49 AM · #24
...but while I'm looking through his personal work I might get this one on a tee-shirt...or a coffee mug.

It's in his Chicago folder...hey, the price is right.
