I got Kingston 16gig card(CF/16GB-S2) for my D300 this Christmas. After a couple of days of shooting card died. As soon as I format it, it would only let me take 2 pics before saying card needs to be formatted. Same thing on D70. I got it replaced. Now I'm getting random bad images. That is how the one started.

I'm having trouble understanding Kingston's website. When I click on cards for D300, my card comes up on the list yet it says max capacity is 8 gigs. What the hell?!?!!?

I'm getting upset here. I can't seem to figure out what the problem is.

Has anyone heard of any compatibility issues with D300 and Kingston memory cards?

Thanks

Nick

I am experiencing a similar thing - I bought 2 Kingston CF/8GB-S2 cards recently - the first card died fairly soon - asked to be reformatted repeatedly. Kingston replaced the card. The other original card just died last night asking for a reformat. Then it worked OK but I am getting a small percentage of shots that cannot be read or that have weird lines on them. Today I tried the replacement card Kingston sent and that is doing the same thing. I am trying to figure out if it is the cards or the camera.

Anyone have any ideas?

Stop using Kingston cards! Just a thought.

Kingston says it is compatible. They better figure out if it is the camera or the cards and someone should fix something.

This sucks!

I tried a Lexar Professional 133x 4GB card today on the same camera and there were no issues whatsoever. Looks like it is the current Kingston cards. I will call them tomorrow and try to figure something out........

For what it's worth, I just got my Kingston 4GB freebee from Adorama, and it seems to be working fine. Not that I've done any big test on it since it just arrived a few minutes ago, but I popped it in, formatted it, took shots, reformatted it, and had no trouble so far.

Tried tech support again and here is the answer:

"... The first revision of this card did have some issues with some cameras. This problem has been resolved. Replacing the card will resolve the issue. ..."

I'm going to try to replace it again and see what happens.

I had the same problem with the Lexar 8GB 300x, its currently in for warranty. New one should be here in a few days...

Currently I made up my mind Im not buying anything over 4gb. As someone mentioned in another thread "too many eggs in 1 basket" which makes sense and thanks to this being the 4th Lexar card Ive sent back Im switching to Sandisc extreem III and IV 4GB cards and seeing how those perform...

Perhaps you should consider Sandisk?? Never had any problems with their cards over the past few years, whether SD or CF.

I have 1gb Extreme SD and 4Gb SDHC for A630. I use 2 4Gb Extreme III in 30D and they work well.

Well I got new card about a week ago and it seem to be working fine. I guess the first batch they made was bad.
