They look very handsome.... I mean the ribbons. I really hope to get one of those next year this time... or steal one, either case ;)

congrats to all three people in my hate list who won the awards (totally due to jealousy)

and I hate to say this, but... (dang) Keep up the good work (makes me feel sick to say that

:P

Congrats, guys! Not like there's much surprise in there. Now me coming in as high as 26th, THAT'S a surprise.

I want an award for consistency. I didn't really pay attention, but I think I was in 30th place all year.

And congrats to the top dogs!

Larus' win is well deserved and believe me Keith, I was looking over my shoulder every day sure you were going to pass me by.

Next year, with the handicap system, I think Falc is a shoe-in for the blue.

Isn't there some kind of muddy beige ribbon for the person who got the highest standing and never broke 6.0 for the entire run? LOL!!!

ETA: Thanks, Scott for your work and commitment to this project.

And oh yeah, congrats to you bastids that won!.....8>)

Congrats to the big 3! Consistancy is key.

Glad you got this running Scott. Puts a new level of stress on me at the end of each month. ;)

Congratulations to the winners - well deserved :)

(And congratulations to myself too - I ended up as 17 which is the highest rank for someone who never won a ribbon)

Congrats to Scott for the big competition this has been. You've done a wonderful job. Thanks a lot.
And congrats to the winners and all the participants.
In a personal key, I'm very happy with my 22th. And I have a goal for the next year.

Big congrats to the winners! And thanks to Scott!

ok some echo around here ;)

for sure it was great. AS for me, it really pushed me to do each FS and therefore at least shoot once a month. With my busy schedule, not always easy, but for sure helpful.

looking forward to 2008 FSM!

The 2008 season will have a added feature called FSM Improvement. It's rewards each user points at the end of each free study based on their DPC Overall average and their 2008 FSM average. These points will fluctuate month to month based on your your average difference. A good example would be if in January your FSM average was 6.000 and your DPC Overall average was 5.5000 then you would an improvement of +0.5000. Lets say you had the highest improvement score then you would receive 180 pts added to your Jan points. Then in February your FSM average was 5.9000, then your improvement would be +0.4000. Lets say that you had the 5th highest improvement score, you would receive 175 points. So your improvement points dropped 5 points from one month to another. Here is how it would look.

January
January Monthly Points 180
FSM Improvement Points 180
Total FSM Points 360

February
January Monthly Points 180
February Monthly Points 180
FSM Improvement Points 175
Total FSM Points 535

Notice that the FSM Improvement score only counts once, not each month. It will go up or down based on your improvement difference.

So you're grabbing a one-time base value for all participants; their year-ending DPC average?

On January 1st, 2008 every participants DPC Overall average was loaded into the database. Thats what the FSM improvement score will be based on.

Ah, I didn't realize it only counted once. I thought it counted each month. Interesting.

Scott, that's an interesting idea, and one I like very much.

So your total score at the end is your placement points for each month plus a single FSM improvement score?

I would recommend doing it every month, instead. Imagine a scenario where someone steadily improves all year. Giving them a single FSM improvement at the end reflects only their latest average, whereas a high score early in the year represents a serious improvement for them at that point.

Sorry, Jeffrey, but don't agree here and prefer Scott proposal. It will be very hard to the best photogs to win if every month they have to fight against their high average. I coonsider it will be not fair that best shooters can't win because, obviously, their improvement can be not so big. I consider this more of an incentive to improve.
That said, I would benefit if this rule was every month, LOL.

Ah, good points. Well, Scott, since you've captured all our running averages, maybe there could be a second award for biggest difference between our average right now and the average of our 2008 FS? That would be a separate award, equivalent to "Most Improved."
