ImageStation's T+C's gives them a licence to use your pics. You have to be very careful putting your shots on third party sites.

"In consideration for the Service, and the potential benefits related thereto, you grant ImageStation, its successors, licensees and assigns, a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty free license to use, modify, reproduce, distribute, publish, publicly perform, and publicly display your Member Content, by all means now known, or later created, including but not limited to display on the Internet, and in all forms of media, now known or later created."

Well, there's a service I will never use. Just because I don't do this for a living does not mean I would ever want to hand my photos over to someone else to use. Good post to point that out, Paul.

One note however - the site has two types of areas to upload to, public and private. The part of the agreement you posted only applies to the Public content you push to them. The Private content you store there does not transfer any license to them to reproduce your work other than keeping the site up (copying between servers, etc).

Still, I would not use the site. If I want to share my photos with others, by their terms I automatically forfeit my rights to the photos, and that simply will not do.

I'd probably not use this either, but it's not quite correct to say you forfeit your own rights to the photos, you just forfeit your rights to any royalties for THEIR use. You can still print them or sell them to anyone else, although you couldn't sell someone else EXCLUSIVE rights.

Yeah, that's true. As you say, still giving up too much rights.

Some may be interested in the people who host my website. They are offering Free hosting

No real limit to your photo file sizes (only limited by the speed of your connection and time to upload before your website times out)
Unlimited number of photos can be stored
Unlimited galleries, with up to two levels of subgalleries
No bandwidth restrictions regardless how popular your website becomes

There is a single banner add but that does not seem to bad for nothing.

Uploading is single photo's only at the moment but they are working on multiple uploads.

Hope this helps

Oh - yeh the important bit //www.moby-dog.com

Why not try a photo printing site like PhotoAccess or Shutterfly? Both allow you to upload unlimited photos and share albums with others. I use PhotoAccess- the only (minor) catch is that you must order a certain number of prints from them annually (I think $20). That's hardly a problem since their prints are so much better (and cheaper) than anything you'll get from an inkjet (I have a Canon S900 and Epson 2200). Once you see the quality, you'll probably order prints of all the photos you really like anyway. Both also have pretty good tools for uploading and organization, too.
