It is not yet officially January here (still have 7 hours to go) but I am dying to start this. Here is my first image, taken on the nearest busy street corner to where I live. Some young men have taken an old gas station and turned it into a tire shop. They seem to be doing a steady business and I wish them well.

I can't wait. Tomorrow, after the Rose parade, we're heading to where they park the floats to see them up close. It's kinda where I live (or 20 miles away).

Take your pick. If you want to comment, comment on only one. I will be posting sunsets a lot, along with the "where I live" shots, as sunsets are one of the best things about where I live.
I had a polarizer in my shirt pocket, and when i put it on for the sunset, I saw that the steamed up filter would make an interesting shot, so I turned the polarizer to get the clear corner at the bottom right and fired off a couple.

Happy New Year everyone. We are starting it off right.
In my neighborhood with all the firecrackers and fireworks going off,it sounds like a young war has started, and it's only 9: 20 PM.

I would like to jump in on this side challenge. It will give me a reason to get off my butt and shoot again. It has been awhile since I have posted anything. Any way here is day 1 and I wish all of you a Happy New Year.

This cabin was the first house built in Shawnee, Oklahoma following the September 21, 1891 land run. Compared to the homes we live in today, this would qualify as a storage building. This cabin has sleeping quarters on the upper floor.

A photo a day or whatever you can do. It is more fun than anything else and can get you to shoot things you may not have looked at before. I am going to use this to try and learn the history of my town and get some shots along the way.

I am working on shooting the inside of my house with a small twist here or there.

Starting outdoors today:

The birdfeeders are situated so I can see them all from my seat at the kitchen table, so very often I divide my morning coffee time between the newspaper and birdwatching. It was actually a bit quiet at the birdfeeders today; yesterday there were several finch fights over various feeder perches, which would have been fun to catch. But this little girl is a regular visitor, so perhaps a better representative of my backyward on a normal day.

I started inside today. Way too cold and snowy to travel outside just yet. It also gave me a chance to play with the macro feature on my camera. I just might get the hang of it.

Edit: And now I've got the hang of posting thumbnails. Sorry about that...

Edit #2: Clicking the thumbnail will now direct you to my Flikr account. I don't know if that will help with being able to comment it...

Started out the new year by hitting the health club. LOL, not to exercise ... to soak the sore bones in the hot tub.
Hopefully the bones and the photography will improve this year.
Happy New Year All!

Another photo from the tire shop. These young men obviously can not afford much in the way of building decorations, so they made their own. The colors here are used throughout the tire shop. I am really glad to see that they seem to be doing a brisk business.
