Anyone interested? I'm running out of ideas of where to go, so any ideas are very welcome!

As for where to go...umm, yeah. I'll keep working on that one.

I'm interedted, but finding a place to take photos comfortably in January is a challenge. Perhaps we could try a different approach - are there any good photography exhibits going on at the Philadelphia Museum of Art?

Please! Yes! I am bored to tears! Any day of the week is fine(Except Saturday, 01/05/08)! The current Art Museum exhibits are:

A Conversation in Three Dimensions: Sculpture from the Collections

Cornucopia: Recent Acquisitions in Japanese Art (my frient Rob worked on this exhibit, maybe I'll see about getting a guiding tour if he is available)

Portrait of Professor Benjamin H. Rand by Thomas Eakins

Renoir Landscapes (this runs through 01/06/08, must decide quickly)

Alfred Stieglitz and the Philadelphia Museum of Art (Now Through February 17, 2008)

Several others as well.

Or any one up for the Mummers?

A few months ago, the museum opened their new wing (actually it's really across the street)

There are photographs, textiles, and I want to say furniture in those new galleries.

Hey! we could always do the aquarium again hahah

I'm interested....I'm a little south of Harrisburg, so not that far. Hpow about an Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Rittenhouse Square type of thing? Or the Eastern State prison? Isn't there an awesome old graveyard somewhere? What about the port????

I'm interested too - if its too cold, I would be up to visit the Stieglitz exhibit with folks too...

How 'bout we play this by temperature.....I like the Old City idea 'cause I never go there enough and would like to take a look at the new buildins there such as Consitution Hall (sic). Also have yet to do Elfreth's Alley. So if it is to cold...we go to the Art Museum instead and see the Stieglitz.

I'd like to join in, dependent on weather. The Eastern State Prison sounds really interesting. I hear that they have great photo ops there.

Right now, the only access to the Eastern State Penitentiaryis through one-hour guided tours offered 3 times daily - no tripods are allowed and no holding up the tour for photography. It would be better to wait until April when there is free-range access without a time limit and you can use tripods.

There is a street photography grid project starting in Philadelphia. Here is a Robert Cocozza's blog about it. I will be with a group going out once a month to photograph a part of the grid.

Chanticleer Gardens opens in April. This place is spectacular in the spring.

There are also other photography exhibits:
Lewis and Clark Trail at Penn Museum

Gallery 339

Project Basho Onward opening January 10th

ESP does allow group tours -- if we can get 15 people perhaps we can work something out with them?

Still, it sounds like it can be quite cold in the winter so that may be a better late-spring GTG.

This might give you an idea of what would be available in Philadelphia:Michael Penn.

Eugene, I thought about you on Christmas Eve - we went to some friends near Morris and 13th. They go all out down there don't they and, of course, I had no camera.

It's even better New Years Eve. At the end of our block (I still call it our block since we still own the house in Philly), is the Fancy Brigades' South Philly Vikings who have won several years running, although I'm not sure about this year. It WAS fun watching Mummers going up Broad St. on WGN (Chicago) on Comcast in Florida.
