In 2003, my second year doing the MS Walk, I made a promise. If I raised at least $1,000 (twice what I had ever raised previously), I said, I would commit to walk 50 miles this year to help end the devastating effects of Multiple Sclerosis. With your help, we far exceeded last year's goal (raising over $1,600), and now I'm prepared to keep my promise to you.

On October 8-10, 2004, I’ll be taking the greatest walk of my life – the MS Challenge Walk. This 3 day, 50 mile walk may be the hardest thing I ever do, but it can’t be as hard as living with the devastating and relentless effects of multiple sclerosis, a chronic, lifelong disease that attacks the central nervous system. Among the devastating setbacks for those who have MS, is a loss of the ability to put one foot in front of the other. Participating in the MS Challenge Walk affirms my commitment to stop MS and move the world closer to a cure. Will you help by sponsoring me in the MS Challenge Walk? With your generous support, you can help me reach my fund raising goal of $2,500 and help find the cure for MS, sooner rather than later.

Once again, a HUGE thank you to everyone who offered their support in 2002 and 2003, and to everyone who will offer their support in 2004!

This is a great thing you're doing Terry. Is there a way to pledge using PayPal? I can't find the info on the site. I'm going to pledge some money of my own, and also all of the money I make from DPCPrints sales from this point until October will be pledged to you. It may not be much but I hope it helps :)

Hi Terry, I must have missed your walk last year, because I don't recall this, but I would like to make a pledge this year. I have the same question as Konador though - is there a way to make a pledge for you using PayPal?

Awesome, I really appreciate that! As far as I know, there is no way to pledge directly using PayPal. Pledging online requires a credit card. If it is easier for you and you have the ability to mail me a check (made out to "National MS Society"), you could do that. If you'd like to do that just PM me and I will send you my postal address.

If PayPal is your best or only option, I do have a PayPal account myself to which you could send contributions. If you choose to do that, I will cut a check to the National MS Society in the total amount of contributions sent that way. PayPal does charge me a small transaction-processing fee but I will make that up. I can also send you a receipt for tax purposes if you need one.

Thanks again... you guys rock!

-Terry

Would it be best then if I paid it all thru paypal at the end, rather than in small chunck as/when I make sales?

As someone who has M/S, I want to say THANKS, to Terry, and to all of you who contribute. It's a wonderful thing that you are doing. It really means alot to know that we're not fighting alone.

Peace Eric

I'm charged a flat percentage plus 30¢ per transaction for receiving money on PayPal. If the amount gets to more than about $25 or so let me know... otherwise sometime in August will probably be best.

Thanks!

Several people have reported problems with the link in my original post above. I have replaced the link and it should work better now. If that doesn't work, you can also try the link in my signature, with takes my to my Challenge Walk web site.

If you are asked to search for a participant by name, pelase enter "Terry Auspitz." Also, if you have problems with the links, please let me know, so I can work with the local MS society office to get it resolved.

Thanks!

Terry,

Just a thought.....

Will you be walking 100 miles next year? ;)

I think it's a nobel cause you've taken up. I did a breast cancer walk 2 years ago while my wife was undergoing treatment. 60 miles is a long way! 1st day and last day aren't too bad, but that middle day goes on forever. I've decided to do the 3 Day Walk in Chicago this year with my sister in honor of my wife who lost her battle with breast cancer in August of 2002. More information can be found in my profile.

Thanks for your support in my walk Terry, I will soon be making a contribution to your cause.

Hi Terry,

I will do what I can. You definitely have my support. My mother was diagnosed with MS before I was born. I have watched it progress my whole life. Lets get this disease cured!

Here is a picture of my mother and niece.

Danny,
That is a beautiful tribute to your wife Debby.

~It's no longer a matter of "if"

Life is a race to give away our time.

It is nice to see both you and Terry giving your time to help others.

Those of us who are actually afflicted with this disease thank you from the bottom of our collective hearts!

I just donated to both of these causes (Terry's and Danny's). Good luck to you both in not only meeting your goals this year, but exceeding them! (Posting to bump this up, not to pat myself on the back...)
