Guys, I currently have Minolta's 7D, and with it came software that allows me to link directly to my PC, and take snapshots. Unfortunately,
this software doesnt appear to be compatible w/the new Windows Vista operating system. Can someone please advise me on what I can do about this short of formatting my operating system and going back to Windows XP?

Hi. I don't have an answer for you, but you may want to consider going to www.dyxum.com and posting your question there. It's a site dedicated to Minolta / Sony users.

thanks glad....actually, i am curious to even know whether or not the new sony cameras come w/any PC software. i was actually able to finally get the minolta software to load, however, vista tells me that there has not been a driver created that is compatible w/this software. i wish i knew someone capable of writing a driver program that would work for this problem. i am going to go to that site you recommended though. i really do appreciate ur speedy response....

With Vista, you can set up just about any program to run in "Windows XP Compatibility Mode".

1. Right-click on the program's shortcut (or the executable, if that's what you are running) and choose "Properties"
2. Click on the "Compatibility" tab
3. In the "Compatibility mode" group box, check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
4. Choose with operating system version you want (e.g. Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
5. Click "OK"

Sometimes, the aforementioned steps is how you will need to run the setup program that comes with older software.

Finally, just for everyone's knowledge, you can choose from various operating systems such as Windows 95, Windows 98/Me, Windows NT (Service Pack 5), Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1), and Windows XP (Service Pack 2).

I have the 7D as well and the Dimage software runs fine in compatibility mode, but I find I rarely use it as I use Photoshop to process all of my .mrw (raw) files.
