With Vista, you can set up just about any program to run in "Windows XP Compatibility Mode".
1. Right-click on the program's shortcut (or the executable, if that's what you are running) and choose "Properties"
2. Click on the "Compatibility" tab
3. In the "Compatibility mode" group box, check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
4. Choose with operating system version you want (e.g. Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
5. Click "OK"
Sometimes, the aforementioned steps is how you will need to run the setup program that comes with older software.
Finally, just for everyone's knowledge, you can choose from various operating systems such as Windows 95, Windows 98/Me, Windows NT (Service Pack 5), Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1), and Windows XP (Service Pack 2).
