100% in agreement.
some voters have seen blown outs..what the heck are they talking about!? To me, those intense whites look like magical mystical clouds, with angels surfing on them, at ground level, creating a virtually distant environment that isolates and provides contrast to the solitude of the subject. And look at the yellow piece of whatever it is in her right hand...very well thought.

I'm going to nominate this shot by choltmeier . Way underrated in my opinion and expressed yellow without even seeing the color.

I second this one- I love the expressed yellow as well. VERY VERY creative and Risky. IMHO For the risk alone they should have gotten better than a 4.34!!

(on another note- thank you kmp, but your still a butt-head!!)

this one by timfythetoo Is a beautiful, out-of-the-box take on "6". Helluva image, OOBIE-worthy in my book.

I'd like to nominate rmtm333 for a Yappie. After an apparent absence from this site (a period during which I joined), his first task was to comment on nearly 500 entries in the "Best of 2007" challenge. If his other comments were like the one he left on mine, they were well thought out comments and this was not a quick or easy task.

I would suggest bucket instead. He encouraged photos that took risks, dared to be different. rmtm333's aesthetic is too mainline dpc, complete with narrow ideas about what photography can be.

Gee imagine my surprise. Thank you Karen and Shannon (and skewsme too, for the favorite).
I'm honestly touched (and not just touched in the mind).

I would like to nominate JerseyGenie for this photo in the Abandoned Buildings challenge. I like how the black broken out area of the window looks like a figure entering the building, as her title, "Breaking and Entering" suggests. I also thought it would score higher than 5.0980.

i second everything karen said. this one got a 9 from me. i was shocked it didn't score higher.

Don, excuse my questioning your comment, but isn't it a little strange to be critical of someone's personal views just because they are mainstream? Mainstream views are no more or less relevent then any other. to quote the criteria for a Yappie "YAPPIE sucker is given to a commenter for either a particular comment or a history of great comments." If the commenter is being constructive and encouraging, it should not matter if the views are mainstream or not should it?

How is it "constructive" or "encouraging" to tell a picture you're giving it a 3 and then list all the ways it could be a run-of-the-mill DPC photograph? I'm not saying he should delete his comments. I'm just saying there should be some sort of standard for what "great comments" are. And besides, this is just my opinion. The suckers can vote however they please.

This was my favorite of the Childhood challenge. I'm aghast to see the score it received. It must be OOB, since I can't think of any other reason for it's poor reception.

So I nominate bspurgeon for an OOBIE award for this beautiful image of Childhood.

Colorcarnival's framing in this shot is so OOB that most voters didn't get it. But the shadows framing the little plant make this image dramatic and interesting, and IMO it works and fits the challenge.

You guys are awesome. Two OOBIE noms on the same page - wheee! I'm not really aiming for that when I shoot, but a lot of times I don't think like most people anyway and this is just what happens. Thanks Karen, Juli, and Barry!

I'd like to nominate this shot for an OOBIE. I just loved the creative bent with regard to frame.

OOBIE for this one IMO. I'm actually surprised there wasn't more of this concept in the challenge (thru the keyhole, etc...). The general feel of this shot seems real, like a photo you'd get from someone doing something they shouldn't - hurried (soft focus), slightly imperfect framing, no concern for background clutter (it all fits and seems to belong, rather than a studio(ish) setup). Kind of a cool result I thought. :-)

I'd like to nominate pineapple for a Yappie. In the B&W a Week side challenge he's using each contributor's photograph as a learning tool - his comments indicate just what he takes away from each one.

He has a Yappie. It should be upgraded to Lifetime Yappie. He's one of the commenting greats.
