I am thinking of purchasing the Vivitar 6200w it is a underwater/weatherproof camera. I am having hard times finding reveiws on it and it is not listed here on DPC. I am looking for something for on the boat, snorkling, waterparks and pool stuff. Just family stuff.
Anyone have one?

Thanks, they had a link for pictures taken with it and that is what I have been looking for. It seems like a nice snapshot camera for the price.
Anyone else? |

This is what I have (well, the older 5mp WP model):
Pentax Optio W30
It is a great camera, better probably than the Vivitar, and this one actually looks nice enough that you can carry it all the time as a P&S. It has 3x optical zoom (the Vivitar is digital only), lots of scene modes (helps for underwater shots), is smaller than the Vivitar, and more. I've had it in the crashing waves of the Atlantic and never had a problem with it at all. However, it's $80 more than the Vivitar and can't go as deep.

Here are photographs that I love - not mine - taken with Pentax Optio W10.

Jennifer - just so you know they you can't focus them, they self focus - I tried the lesser version at home (returned it) then this model in the shops - hated that you couldn't force it to focus on a point - I wouldn't spend my money on it - and I only wanted it for fun too!
Try one in a shop first would be my advice. |

Thanks for the advise. Those pictures posted are amazing. I went to a couple stores yesterday and no one had one in stock. I will keep trying. I like the other one posted. I may go with it. I really don't need it to go deeper and I would rather have the focusing and zoom features. |
