Ok more on my "to upgrade or not to upgrade" question - Has anyone ever bought used? When I was at the camera shop today the guy said he had a used Nikon D200 for $1000...

Yes, but two thing have to be in order.

The item has to be in mint condition with out a warrenty.

The item has to be way under retail price used.

Yes. I have bought two bodies that way. A nikon D70 and a D200. Both times through here as I figured I could get a little idea of the person selling and know how long they were a member here. Both times turned out great, no complaints. Make sure you get all the info including how many shutter activations and ask if the items was one onwner only.

Good luck.

BTW - there is a D200 for sale here:

D200 & Grip FS

Not mine and I can't vouch for it but looks like a pretty good camera with only 7,000 activations.

I bought both my D60 and my 10D used...the D60 I've had for three years or so, the 10D for two years, both still going strong.

I just bought a D200 + MB-D200 grip to upgrade from my d40. Found it on fredmiranda for 1050 with an extra battery and 2 gig CF. Should be here tomorrow, I'm stoked.

I've bought all of my pricey gear used except for my 70-200 used and online at fredmiranda.com. Saved a bundle even over flea-bay.

Lots of stuff

fuji 602z, 20D, 70-210 and 28-75 tamron lenses, 28 1.8, 85 1.8, metz and sigma flashes, studio flashes, pocket wizards, light meter...probably a few other things too.

Never had a problem. Bought off folks here, on FM.com, other forums, ebay, in person. Savings are usually 20-40% off new.

"Wooot"... is that a Canadian term? :) Any relation to the American phrase "Hot Da*n"?

Congrats Jordan! Enjoy! I guess you are sitting there with an extremely overly fast beating heart, and thoroughly occupied mind... you haven't updated your profile yet for the new camera!

Edited to add...CAN I HAVE YOUR OLD ONE??? :)>
