Day 6 - ITMLA (Information Technology Marshmallow Liberation Army)

[thumb]620250[/thumb]

Disclaimer for any Noob IT-ites following my antics: I have done this a really long time (coming up on 30 years in field) I have become very good at what I do and they know it. Do not try these stunts in your workplace as you might just make someone smile...or get a bad review.

IT Noobs should not:
Shoot their Marshmallow canons at anyone that deems themself a director or above.

Wear Slacker Tee shirts with a picture of Whimpy on it, whilst everyone around has a dumb az button up shirt and tie on.

Sign their emails as the "Director of Enlightened Cannibalism"

IT Noobs should:

Hang Happy Bunny Calendars with care. Some users could become offened by the harmless humor presented.

Today I am sharing the boots that are in front of the mall that I walk at. They are huge and lots of people like to get their picture taken in front of them. When my sister in law visited us from Venezuela she fell in love them and had to have her picture taken. I think of her every time I see them.

OK, got behind, so a little catch up...A local church has an annual event called Follow the Star depicting the life of Jesus...You stay in your car and drive through passing by each scene...Shots were all blurry so in some cases I just added more blur...

Of course, I may end up changing the settings, the D300 has many different options for RAW file compression. (I have mine set to Lossless compressed) It's quite a big learning curve from the D70! Even the 4gb card only gives about 185 shots on it. The 1g cards I have will have to stay with the D70.....

I have a 2GB card and that gives me 358 5-6MB files in RAW.

Does the D300 make bigger files?

Wow! That's some BIIIIIIIG stuff!!!

Hey, is that a big sensor camera unlike the D70s?

Oh, and if you're done with that D70.....what're ya gonna do with it?..8>)

Really big. The sensor size is a bit of a technical question for me.... Not 100% sure what size it is, but the output is quite different from the D70. The Raw files can be either 12 or 14 bit lossless compressed, compressed or uncompressed. It evens allows for TIFFs (even bigger than the Raw files). I think I'm gonna need another external hard drive soon too! I thought 500 gb was big, but starting to look like a small one now.

I'm keeping the D70 as my back up camera :) I travel a lot (at least once a month to the UK to visit family) so am considering leaving the D70 at my parents so I don't need to carry one all the time.

I'm having a blast in this side project! LOVE the stuff you guys are putting up. I'm somewhat scattershot at commenting (Frickin' Dialup!) but I'm doing the best I can. Just caught up on a few earlier ones.... mad_brewer that portrait of your daughter is just off-the-charts beautiful. Really, really breathtaking! Roz.....what can I say, I'm a serious fan, I'll take up a whole page going through all the folks, hi Shez, but you know what I mean!!!!

You've all been so wonderful in your comments to me, thanks ever so much! I really appreciate the feedback on my cheerleader kids as they are my learning curve for portraiture. I never used a flash before, and it was a real shock to me just how much knowledge is required to do it right......which has been REALLY frustrating! You have no idea how many BAD cheer pics I have! LOL!!! One last one.....(Yeah, I've said THAT before!).....just 'cause I love the way that the background just fades away with the flash. All of these were shot in a huge, not well lit gym, and the flash just illuminated the kids I was shooting.

[thumb]620350[/thumb]

Oh....a confession.....this *IS* in fact a setup. I had no idea how clever thses kids can be! Celina is lying on her stomach, and Taylor is lying face up on Celina's back danging her legs over Celina's shoulders.

I'm glad to see some of you could tell....after the first few comments, I was starting to feel guilty.....hence my confession.

[thumb]619157[/thumb]

Though we do have one or two kids that can do this, somehow I don't think it would look quite the same.....especially the smile.

The REAL athletic feat was me getting my 52 year old, 350 pound, 6'4" frame down on the floor on my stomach to take this! Me getting back up was NOT pretty! Bones creaking!!! LOL!!!

LOL!!! I'm thinking that neither of us is too adept at some of this stuff......8>)

I mean what I think is called the full frame sensor.....i.e., with the D70s, we have to multiply the lens range by 1,5, so you'd get a 150 focal length out of a 100mm lens.....with the full frame cameras, you don't get that multiplier.

I know that the D1/2/3s all are, but I'm not sure about the D200/300s.

Anyway, it was just curiosity so I'd learn.

Sorry, misunderstood. It's not a full frame sensor no. The only Nikon full frame is the D3. The D1 and D2x etc are not full frame either.

The D200/D300 are regular sensors meaning the crop factor is still applicable with non-DX lenses.
