Happy New Year All!

This should be a great GTG! I'm unsure about the models - I would love having them myself, but I can see the point of it becoming complicated. Maybe just for a part of the day?

Just to confirm, again, we're talking about Jan 19 - 20, right?

I was planning on doing the 19th for sure. I will need to find a place to crash if I will be thereon the 20th as well.

I'd love to offer, but we're in a rental that's a bit small right now. Hopefully before this time next year we'll have extra room!

Is anyone else thinking of staying for the 20th, or is this a one day shoot?

I'm thinking about this. Depending on the weather. 4.5 hours for me. I have a place on Cherokee Lake I could spend the night Friday and meet you all on Saturday. Again, depending on the weather. And I would not stay for the 20th :(.

So, for models. I gabbed with Red on MySpace last night. She's definitely interested in a group shoot. She also has a friend, Morgan she's interested in bringing if we're interested.

Tony, you're right about Red - I've worked with her several times in the last year, and she is great fun to point one's camera at! (Pics of her & Glenda, coming soon ;) ) I missed my first chance to work with Morgan, but have heard plenty of good things...

Actually, while I'd enjoy working with either of these women, I'd probably stick with James & Eric to find somewhere else to be (mostly, because I live here & can meet with the models anytime, but rarely get to spend the time with all of you!)

eta - here's a shot of rossglenda (my wife) & Red, taken just before Christmas:

Arriving on the 19th and planning to stay over for more photos on 20th and maybe a review of the day before's images if anyone wants to share them.
Still not exactly clear when we will meet at that downtown park...9 AM? or at the crack of dawn...I suppose the weather on my trip up from Atlanta will determine how early I can arrive.
I agree with the model discussion, this will need to be a little organized for the sake of everyone involved or it might get confusing. Considering each photographer's input will be different the model's photography session. All the varying suggestions for poses and lighting etc etc...one at a time might work better, just my opinion - but I may be wrong too.
Looking forward to meeting other DP'ers.
BTW, a few beers are good too, but I dont' like to mix alcohol with photography - both too much fun and I get over=excited!! Perhaps at the end of a day's photography????

Well not sure if I will be staying overnight. The girls want to go see Cats and it is that weekend. I have to determine if I take them to see that Friday or Sunday. If I take them Friday I will find a cheap hotel to stay overnight and be there both days.

There is a nice hotel downtown across the street from the Sheraton Read House. Next to Denny's and not expensive at ALL.

ETA: About the time, I can be there any time, you guys should decide :)

Izzat the one with the 'City Cafe' restaurant @ the corner? We went there for a Christmas dinner, and the food was really good (for hotel food - you know what I mean LOL) I vote for early morning, myself... If I can remember which hotel rewards program I have the points in, Glenda & I may spend the night downtown; makes for a great place to rest mid-day, store gear, get up early on Sunday, etc. etc. etc.

I STILL wanna shoot the bridge(s) downtown @ night JoJo, like we've talked about. IF we do, I'll post the info here & offer our hospitality for an afternoon break or somethin...

oh yeah - HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Want some advice? Buy them a real cat rather than taking them to see the musical. Trust me - it will be much less painful for you.

Well we already have a cat and trust me I would rather go see the show then have another animal in this house. I would like to shoot the bridges at night as well. I will check on the hotel and get a room.

JoJo what is the name of the Hotel?

Thanks JoJo that Days Inn has no rooms available that night. The others are $64/night. But after much debate I was given two options from the wife. I chose not to stay overnight. I will be there early in the morning and leave late Saturday night. If I chose to I can just make the 1 1/2 hour drive back the next day.

Well not going to see Cats now either. People don't talk real highly of it. I will take them to see ASO soon.

Either way I am not staying overnight. I took option number 2 for what I had to decide on.

I saw Cats about 10 years ago. It was really good. The cast actually performed in the audience at times (up and down the aisles). I've seen many Broadway plays, musicals, operas and ballets, and Cats was a definitely a highlight--I recommend it.

Philup & griz210 - welcome! We'd love to have you.

I'm also up for a very early start on Saturday. Perhaps we could have an early crowd (& then a later meeting time for later risers.

I checked this website for sunrise & sunset times, but it doesn't sound right to me: sunrise & sunset. They say that sunrise in Chattanooga on the 19th of Jan will be at 7:48, which sounds late. However, they also say that sunset will be at 5:56, which sounds about right. Anyone else have a different source?

rossbilly - I agree, and would love to have the parks at night - perhaps as well as for sunrise?

If the navy is correct, as I suspect it is, and we were to say 7:30 am for the early risers at the Pedestrian Bridge, north end, then whoever is there ontime/early can start shooting. I suspect that anyone with a camera on the pedestrian bridge at that time will be dpchallenge, so we can easily recognize each other.

There's a Stone Cup coffee shop within sight there, so I'll survive the early hour.

We could shoot around there for an hour or so, grab a cup of coffee & then meet any later folk at 9 am or 10 am.

What say you?

Hear hear!!!!

7:30 and 9:00 sound good to me... that way we aren't hanging around all day waiting on people :)
