Sounds like a fun idea. Is it Dec or Jan we're talking the 19/20th?
It'll be fun to meet some new faces - just missed being introduced to rossbilly the other day at Red's, seen Rocke's work (good stuff).
Locally I DBA Rezolution Photo - y'all may have seen some of my work on MM.
regards,
Jon

PS: Quite frankly Raccoon Mtn wouldn't be my first choice of a meetup place this time of year - pretty barren. There's a park off Hamill Rd that has some pretty nice trails and a nice quarry with water. Just a suggestion...

I am going to go out on a limb here and suggest Coolidge Park :) They have an awesome merry-go-round :) and the view isn't bad either :)

How far is that from Charlotte, NC? I have a feeling it's a bit too far for a day trip. I'm from southern California and will be in Charlotte for a week (Dec 2-9)

Actually, it might be a bit too far for a day trip, but this is January 19th and 20th. If you are back around, come on down!!! :)

I don't think Coolidge park is a good idea. Unless we are going to get some night shots.

Is there not a bigger place?

Great! Welcome TCGuru & BubbaJon!

I'll take the point that Racoon Mountain isn't a great idea this time of year - I've never been there, just heard it was great.

If I have this right, we're talking Jan 28/29. With two days, we could definitely fit quite a bit in. Kevin's ideas from the previous page sound great, as does Coolidge Park. If we take Kevin's "Walnut Street Walking Bridge" we can easily add Coolidge Park - they're next to each other.

I've been to Cloudland Canyon once - the views are spectacular, and there are two waterfalls. One is pretty much dry now, the other is very little. However, they're mountain falls, so they depend on rainfall. If it rains quite a bit before the dates, they'd probably be quite a bit fuller.

One of the falls entails a decent amount of exercise, but the other takes a LOT of exercise. My legs were sore the next day, but I'm not in great shape to begin with. However, there's also apparently ridgeline walk that's much easier.

Rex - I think Coolidge Park would be cool at night. Maybe the Walking Bridge & dusk and then park as soon as it turns dark?

That'd be a good idea - lotsa sparkly stuff to shoot ;)
Maybe I could schedule a few local models from ModelMayhem to come along for something other than pure scenery. Opinions?

PS: This Shot was taken at the park with the quarry I mentioned. There is an old farmhouse in the middle of the park, a stream and lots of side trails. Just FYI

Ohhh ... it could be fun to have some models - what kind of cost is that?

I like your pics of the quarry, BubbaJon.

We could probably pay them in pictures or CDs. With as many of us as will be there, they will have a full portfolio with just one shoot LOL

I have a girl from MM that lives near me that I have been wanting to shoot... she will do TFCDs. I will ask her if you guys want :)

Welcome to the madhouse Tony!!! Hopefully, this time, it won't rain!!

I've added you to the list, mawear! I look forward to meeting you.

TCGuru - I think your model would be wonderful to have. I'm new in Chatt, so don't really know many people yet. If anyone else has models in need of portfolio pics, let's invite them!

BTW, my 13 year old daughter just joined dpChallenge. (kvdB). She might join us for a bit if no one objects.

Mad house? No, no, I was looking for the insane asylum. Either way, thanks for the welcome. If it rains, we just get wet. Didn't stop us from having fun last time.

We will have to put duct tape on his mouth.

Eric if you are not going to stay overnight and want to drive to my house you are more than welcome to ride with me.

Thanks you two! I know it might be inhibiting to some to have a youngster amongst us so I'll limit her participation a bit.

Sounds like a fun time brewing. I did say count me in - right? ;)
I'll check with a couple of the models I know actually between Kevin, Tony and Billy - all the ones I know would be covered.
So Jan 29th?

Hey, got a PM from tcguru.
I live in Nashville, went to college in Dayton (TN) and would love to come.
Have to wait and see to say for sure. I leave for Albuquerque Monday the 21st, so I may not be able to give up a whole weekend away from home.
Put me down as a tentative. I'd love to meet everyone face to face.

It would be nice if we decide all that. I will be leaving my house as early as 7am if needed.
